Spring is coming -- no more training wheels

It's been nice and pleasant around here (for February, that is). We were playing outside today and DS4 (he just turned 4 last week) decided he wanted to take off his training wheels. Okay, we've been through this before with our older DS. Take them off, put them back on, over and over again.

We'll the little bugger jumped on the bike and off he went. I couldn't believe it!! Took very little effort and he was able to master it in no time. We just have to work on him staying on track and not riding all over the place. Tonight he was able to ride almost all the way around the block without stopping. DH is exhausted from chasing after him to make sure he wouldn't get in trouble (I walked with the kids I care for --- I think DH got the raw end of that deal!!).

Our older DS learned about 5 1/2 -- the summer before kindergarten.

Tomorrow's going to be a challenge. I have no doubt he'll be up at dawn asking to go for a bike ride.

Can your DSs come and show my DD7 how to do it? She refuses to take the training wheels off. I fear she will be 18 with training wheels on.

My daughter learned to ride her two wheeler without training wheels a few months before she turned 3

We couldn't believe it, she wanted the training wheels off, so we let her try it. She always did have a good sense of balance.

I felt so bad though and wished the training wheels were still on. I felt like she was still a baby and she shouldn't be rushing to ride a two wheeler already.

Well, now she will be 17 in May and she still shows no sign of wanting to get her licence to drive the car. Not that I am really complaining
