Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

True for you, but probably not on average...a sense of urgency is sales 101.

Eh, important to know your audience and understand that not all of us should be treated the same (I say this as someone who has worked in Marketing and Sales for almost 30 years). If you have an existing customer with a track record of buying 100’s of points, they shouldn’t be treated the same as a net new prospect. With the amount of data Disney has on each of us, kind of mind blowing that this is their strategy.

I wonder if the member updates have sales hungry guides compared to people with their regular salesperson?

Funny you should ask but this is another one of my frustrations. The woman who led the update was lovely - and of course she followed up the day after the update (and I’m assuming she did for all who attended). Then I messaged my own guide bc I didn’t want to upset him that I was *talking* to a new guide…but they clearly never connected the dots so I had both of them continuing to reach out.

Just stopping by to say how ridiculous this new process is - I attended one of the member update sessions at RIV while at WDW last week - my mistake doing it towards the beginning of the trip/expressing interest in more points (which is true).

The pressure to buy before 7 days has been intense, and completely counter to what I’ve experienced previously. Multiple emails/calls while I was at the parks/traveling home/readjusting to work for the week.

It’s definitely having the opposite effect of what they are hoping - I’m back considering resale vs direct for my last batch of points just given the frustration of these new tactics. (Aside, having the pdfs would have helped significantly).

Sooo…in case this wasn’t already covered - if you are considering adding on while visiting - take the tour on your last day to buy yourself some time!
So sorry you had to deal with that, how annoying, in this case I probably would have told them flat out that im on vacation and to please stop ✋

In a world where "google" calls me like 5 times a day to try to scam me, any perceived harassment or repeated unwanted calls causes me to be on edge and not so nice

Was this at vdh because in my experience Disneyland has been way more aggressive and off putting both at vdh and the starview station. The guides that I interacted with came from a timeshare background and it showed

So far every interaction I have had the guides have been respectful that I already have a guide. Sad to see that some are not.

I have loved my Florida interactions, never have felt pressured at all. How is Aulani?
They were very nice. One guy I could tell was a great sales guy stopped all chit chat as soon as I said I had a guide. He said well let's get you up there to see the GV. I got to the GV and there was another guide she was very nice again and didnt try to sell me we just had a nice convo about DVC. The 3rd one was like I can tell you are just here for the hat, I was like yeah I have a guide and I know about exchanges I just want a hat. He gave me that hat and I went on my way.

Now that I remember an aulani guide thru chat did try to steal me once and my guide told me to please stop going on the chat and ask him whenever I had questions 🤣🤣

Nope it was at RIV.

My guide is actually great - I don’t really attribute this mess to him - the problem is that leadership has decided the incentives are only good for 7 days, they’re eliminating the charts, etc. and he/they are just reacting to these new ridiculous policies.

I’ll be at VDH in June and will let you know if the trend continues!! 😂

They cut me off from member updates so I will actually be eligible to go again in June too 🤣🤣

I met a wonderful guide at Aulani, wish I had gotten her name. We were brand new with our resale contract and I asked if we could tour the 1 bedroom (we were staying in a studio). She showed us around, gave us some artwork or postcards or whatever and was so non-pressure. We chatted about the Pacific NW and life, and then left to never hear from her again. Too bad. She probably could have been my guide and sold me a contract.
