Hi. Our family (myself, husband, and two daughters ages 7 and 4) have planned our first Disney vacation. We're doing the Polynesian for 4 nights and the 4 day Disney cruise in June. We specifically planned this time of year so that we wouldn't have to pull my older daughter out of school (very frowned upon by our school district). Since Pennsylvania has been getting more than its fair share of snow this year (school was again cancelled today), school days have started to get tacked onto the end of the year in June. We are now getting nervous about the timing, and are considering rescheduling to the week of April 19th. I know everyone says avoid Disney during spring break, which is a no-brainer. My question: How long does spring break extend? (Good Friday is April 9th; Easter April 11th) Do you think we'll be safe as late as April 19th? Any thoughts, advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry, I don't have any ideas, but hopefully someone will be along to give you some idea. I just wanted to say hi and Welcome to the DIS and I can't wait for June/July to get here for the Folk Festival!

Enjoy your first WDW trip! That's so exciting! I hope it will be as magical as you dream it to be!

Oh yeah, and with the weather predicted over the next few days, it looks like there will be at LEAST two more snow days added on to your school year! *sigh* Decisions, huh?

Hi Maggie. Thanks for the welcome. I'm getting lots of great info from the site. So, you know of the Folk Festival?! Where in PA are you from? Yep, they're calling for more snow, so I'm sure you're right . . . more snow days to make up. Stay warm!

There's nothing wrong with going in April, as long as you avoid Easter, which you would be. We've gone several times at the end of April (see sig) and all the trips were great. More crowded, then Feb, but probably less crowded then June. After all, some kids are out as early as May (unheard of here). I think I've heard that crowds pick up around Memorial Day, pretty much for the summer. I think the week of April 19 is a very safe time to go.

Another Festival fan here! We live just outside of Pottstown.
We've gone around Easter time a few times, mainly because of the kids and the whole school issue. We would try to go just before Good Friday, as that seems to be the day the crowds start. It is a bit crowded, but not unmanageable. We would get to the parks as early as we could and then took the afternoon to swim or nap or just relax. Then we'd go back to the park late afternoon until closing. Early entry helps, too. You can do the early entry park first thing in the morning and then do a non-early entry park in the afternoon. I think if you know what to expect ahead of time, you'll be fine. The Poly is one of my favorite resorts.

Keep the trip when you want to go. I really wouldn't worry about pulling a 7 year old out of school at the end of the year even if the district frowns upon it. My kids go to school in PA in a very competitive district and I have taken the children out of school for a couple of days at a time. Don't give it a second thought.

Well . . . it gets a little more complicated than pulling our daughter out of school at the end of the year . . . the extra snow days tacked on in June push back high school graduation, which pushes back my daughters' dance recitals (held in the same auditorium). After paying for dance lessons and buying their costumes (and their hard work and looking forward to the recital), I'd hate for them to miss it. We're looking into going in April and keeping our fingers crossed that we can get the same accommodations.

Hi again! :p

We're from North Wales, which is kind of right between Philadelphia and Quakertown, in Montgomery County. :)

Well, it looks like you'll get to see the Mickey AND the Easter Bunny! That's cool! And Barb is right, Early Entry mornings make a huge difference. When you get to relax in the room or by the pool during the hottest, busiest time of day, it makes you feel like you have a vacation in a vacation!

Hey Saffron. My sister lived in North Wales and now lives in Schwenksville. That sick kitten I purchased was from Red Hill. I love North Wales, such a nice quaint town.

Hey Tigeroo!

Yeah, it is really nice here. We like it a lot. But -- it's also nice down the Jersey shore too! :;yes:: :bounce:
