Hi,
How bad is it really during Spring break? I was originally going 3/30 - 4/5 but now may not go till middle or end of April and was curious about the crowds. I did go in July and I can honestly say it was nothing to worry about, never really waited for any rides except for JC for 30 minutes.
Thanks any info is appreciated.

My family went for 3 days during Spring Break in 2006. We only visited MK and Epcot.

MK was really crowded but Epcot was reasonable.

We decided to try and wing it so we didn't have a plan so that was our mistake.
I think if you have an advance plan, you'll be fine.

Thank you for the response. maybe i will do one of the tour sites.

I think, if you can handle mid July, you can handle Spring Break! Traffic patterns and crowds should be somewhat similar...

We were there for spring break in 2006--the entire week. My DH and I have 3 grown sons so going that week seemed like a stupid decision at the time, considering we can go at any time. We were mentally prepared for the worst but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Some tips to consider: MK is definitely the most crowded so we selected ahead of time to not go to MK at the beginning of the week. We went on Thursday. While it was crowded, it was not unbearable; I think a lot of the visitors had already had their day at MK and were not at another park. The other parks were not as bad as I expected. Certain rides were unbelievable (Expedition Everest, Splash Mountain and Soarin are the three that come to mind) but overall, I didn't think it was near as terrible as I had previously imagined.

hello! thats so nice to hear i was nervous about that time of year, we go every year in november but we are sneaking in another week april 20-26 thanks for your input :thumbsup2

May I ask what week it was that you were there. I just checked disney.com and half of April last year was peak and the other half was regular.
This year 3/30 on is regular till 5/21.

We were there the 3rd week, the week following Easter. We stayed at Saratoga and I remember when I called to make the reservation, the CM told me we got the last room (it's a huge resort) and that's when I realized that it was spring break.

I think this coming year you need to remember Spring Break (last full week of March) will coincide with Easter. That means those schools who usually are off Easter week will be off the same time.

We are planning a trip down there that week, 3/20 to 3/28, and are prepared for crowds. Maybe that's what makes it half the fun!

I took a poll and so did others and a lot of people have break the week of the 21st in April.
I guess I will just see, at least i will be there.

I think all will have a great time, crowds or no crowds. How can you not be excited about seeing Mickey and friends?! And, the weather should be just great too.
Wishing a very magical vacation! pixiedust:

From what we learned last time when we were there at spring break, there is no one week that is the official spring break because different areas take different weeks. That's why the 6 week period is now considered spring break. That might be helpful regarding crowds. It is nothing like Christmas break where everyone has the same period off.

we went last year at spring break - only for 3 days but it did not seem unreasonable to me. we only went to magic kingdom. got there when it opened and stayed the entire day didn't have to wait longer than 30 minutes for the big rides "haunted mansion, etc) we are already planning on next trip for spring break this year march 30-april 5th and have had no trouble with any dining reservations yet. take it easy and you will enjoy

We were there mid April last year and as far as I can tell we got the last room in WDW, literally. When we tried to get a room on WDW.com it kept saying no room was a available at our chosen resorts. We thought it was a computer glitch, so we called and they said the same thing. We managed to get a room at POR in the end, but we were terrified of the crowds. They turned out not to be bad at all! Hence why we are going back at a similar time this year. If you use the fast passes for all they're worth you should have no problems!
