Spring Break Trip

I am planning a trip to DL the last week of March which is spring break. I have read some horrible reviews about crowds and rides breaking down. Does anyone have positive experiences from going during spring break . I'm getting a bit nervous. My son is pretty obsessed over the idea of going, so I am not sure I can back out now. We are WDW vets and have gone thanksgiving week and Memorial Day. Spring break at DL sounds like it will be insane though.

We are going the second weekend of March which is the beginning of the Spring Break rush. We are going to go with the attitude that we will enjoy what we get to and just being together as a family. Both of our girls are away at college on the East Coast, and their Spring Breaks straddle the weekend that we are going. One will be coming in on Friday, and the other will be leaving on Sunday. I can't imagine it will be busier than Christmas, but if it is we will hit the parks early, take an afternoon break, have an early dinner, and then stay late. We are from California, so we know that we will be back.

You can still have fun, even on the very crowded days. It won't be as bad next year since the train, Tom Sawyer island and the Mark Twain are back on now. There's also another walkway open through Fronteirland that had been closed. On the extra crowded days, having all those things closed just made less places for people to go, creating more condensed crowds. You won't have to worry about that.

Rides do break down. If you are there for several days, it shouldn't make any difference as you are sure to catch the rides you want at some point. If you buy MaxPass, you'll also have the benefit of turning your fast pass into a different ride if your chosen ride breaks down.

We went last year over Spring Break. I won't lie it is crowded. But it will depend on your attitude. We were just happy to be in warm weather (we came from -22), happy to not be working or rushing to one activity or another! I would make a list of your must do's and anything you get done above that is a bonus! Disney is magical, crowded or not. My husband who hates crowds still had such a great time we are going back this spring break!!

We are going spring break specifically for the earlier hours. We usually go in Nov. but with 10 opening it's not great for our kids. We take a big midday break. By the time we get there it's practically time to leave.

We know it will be extra busy. We're going the weekend of wondercon because DH wants to go to that too. We can't handle summer heat do we're going to see if this is good compromise for us.

we usually go in April , we either go the end of the week before S/B and into it .. or at the end of S/B and into the week after . those couple of weeks are busy.. but not summer crowd busy.. have a plan. split up to get more rides in if there are people that dont want to do certain rides. use your F/P. make reservations for meals as soon as you , if eating in the parks.. eating at off times works too..
take advantage of rides when there are parades. and if you have an MM.. I would do it early in your trip.. easier to get up early at start of trip. than your last couple of days. !
we usually do 5 days in the park and have Sunday as our day off.. Sundays are most crowded we have found ..

Have a fun trip !!

We were there the first week in April last year and it was very busy! Busier than August by a long shot. But as PP said, they will have more of the park open this year and they have vastly improved the Adventureland pinch point. If you have access to the extra morning hour, use it. If you don't, rope drop the park that doesn't have it that day. If you have Park hoppers, head to DCA once DL gets too crowded. The lines might still be long there, but the wider corridors make it feel less crowded.

We prefer this time of year. Longer hours, night entertainment most nights and usually not as many rides down. We have gone during off season and said never again. The hours were short and too many rides down for maintenance.

We are going the same weekend and will do Wondercon as well.

Great thread! I'm turning 40 on March 30 and plan to be in the parks that week. I'm a little nervous about crowd levels, but plan to have MP and enjoy just being home. It helps that we've been to DLR enough to not feel like "we've got to do it all." I definitely want a good seat for F! and WOC so I might considering dining or dessert party.
