Hi! I'm new to the boards, so even though my trip was forever ago (at least it feels that way:sad2: ) I'm just getting to my trip report now. And I don't have enough posts for pictures. Bummer. Oh well, I'm really excited to write this and relive my trip! Here we goooo...

Cast of Characters:

Me: I LOVE Disney, always have and always will. This trip was to celebrate my birthday and graduation. (My birthday's in November, but we couldn't go then. I hope it's not a Disney sin to wear a birthday pin on your un-birthday!)

Nicole (NJ): WDW first-timer, my best friend, hilarious but slightly narcoleptic

That's it! Just me and my best friend for our senior spring break. WOOOO!

Pre-trip: (FEb 2007)

NJ and I wanted to have an AWESOME spring break our senior year. We had been planning to go to a friend's beach house for a week since September, and my parents had agreed to that being a birthday gift. Well, it's a month before spring break when the beach house falls through. It was complicated- all you need to know is it was such a bummer. So a couple days later, NJ and I are chatting on the phone when I see a commercial for Disney World. Lightbulb!

Me: "Nicole, don't laugh at me when I ask you this"
NJ: "OK(?)"
Me: "Promise??"
NJ: "Sure (still ?)"
Me: "Do you want to go to DIsney World?"
NJ: "YEEESSSSS! Oh! And you know everything about it. This is so perfect!!!!!"

Could I have asked for a better response? Now the tricky part- getting the parents on board.

This was NJ's first ever trip to WDW (I know, so exciting!!), so I took the planning on myself. :) I researched and spent hours on Orbitz, Travelocity, and the disney website looking for the best deals and budget tricks. It wasn't easy. We had no choice but to go during peak season and I had barely a month to plan an entire WDW bonanza! I compiled a budget/presentation and worked my magic. :wizard: Poof! A little pixie dust and our trip was off the ground. My incredible and generous parents told me it was a graduation gift for working so hard in school. Love them! (I didnt mention that I was completely behind in school work because Id been spending all my free time planning the trip. :) )

Cut to a week later. NJ and I are shopping (ok, window shopping - we're about to go to WDW!) and chatting about DIsney when my mom calls. Reservations made!!! WOOO! We actually squealed and were jumping up and down in the middle of the street until a car honked at us to get out of the way. oops. Right, note to self. Don't get hit by a car when you're about to go on vacation. We're were so excited! It was real!!

So the next morning I call to get Chef Mickeys- I WOULD get a picture of NJ and mickey mouse!- and catch up my HUGE pile of homework. I also gathered everything I needed for the get pumped gifts (gpgs, if you will). NJ and I do this all the time. We give each other little things from the basement/attic (usually really funny/random/ugly things) before/after something big (birthdays, big soccer games/performances, awesome job on a test, easing the worries of college, etc) to either get pumped or celebrate. So almost everyday NJ found either a coloring book page, which she always colored during our Calculus class, park maps, stickers, a weather report for our trip, Disney park music, Disney classic music, a princess crown, and other little random stuff. It served double duty as getting her soo exctied about WDW and getting her mind off of impending college decisions.

Finally, the big day came!!!! NJ came over to spend the night on the 17th and even though we tried to go to bed at 11 (our flight was at 6 AM) we were too excited to sleep until 1 in the morning. oops. Only 3 1/2 hours of sleep for us!

So, at 4:30 AM my mom comes in to the family room to wake us up. Im up and moving immediately. Bring it on- it's Disney time! NJ, on the other hand, doesnt move. My mom needs to go get ready too, so it's up to me to wake Sleeping Beauty. I shake her gently. "Nicooole. Waaake uuup." Nothing. I shake her a little harder. Nothing. A little harder. Still nothing. Ok, now I'm shaking her almost violently. Nothing. I yell. "NICOLE!! GET UP" A stir. "NICOOOOLLLLEEE. COME ON!!!" Nothing. I rip off the covers. She moves! "Nooo!" she screams. Aha! I turn on all the lights and the TV. I come over and forcibly pull her off of the couch and onto the floor. She curls up and puts the blanket back on top of her. I take it away and put it in the kitchen. "Nooo!" She crawls- yes, literally crawls- to the other side of the room and tries to get on another couch. I grab her and pull her to her feet. She screams- "This is INHUMANE!" and throws- yes, jumps and flies through the air- herself at the couch. I pick her up again and drag her to the bathroom and put a toothbrush in her hand. "Go."

NJ claims that she doesn't remember any of this.:confused3 :rolleyes1 I told her about it on the plane (right before she went back to sleep) and "this is inhumane" became one of our trip's catchphrases. Haha. Oh, NJ. I wish I had a video of that morning.

Coming next: We arrive!!!

Sorry if this was too long! Im new to this. :)

Great start. Your friend had to be sleeping yet.
