Easter - Our Last Day at the World.
Always a sad day, the last day. We started with breakfast at the hotel then checked our luggage at the luggage room in the hotel and headed off to Typhoon Lagoon. Did the family raft ride several times and did the other tube rides once each. The rides at Blizzard Beach are much longer and much smoother, but that does mean more steps to climb, so it is a trade off. Then the kids wanted to swim with the sharks. They did that a few times and I took some pictures. We put the cameras back in the locker and did the lazy river ride. Everyone was getting hungry so we had Barbecue at the lunch spot near swim with the sharks. It was quite tasty. Then decided to head out.
First major mishap of the trip. When we got back to the locker, somehow the back of my camera had come open. I was very upset about the pictures I lost. So, I retook some pictures that I could. (Fast forward to when we got home. I had the film developed anyway and they all came out except one or two. I just didn't know it at the time.)
We had decided to finish the day at MGM. Well, there isn't a bus from TL to MGM so the CM told us to go to The Boardwalk and take a boat over. This sounded good. We took the bus and got to see the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and the Boardwalk. That was nice. Then we waited quite a while for the boat to take us to MGM. This was all fun but took a REALLY LLLOOOONNNNGGGGG time.
We finally arrived at MGM and went to watch the Indiana Jones stunt show. Than got FP for RNR but they were for too late so they are souveniers now. We looked at some shops and watched street performers and had a snack. Didn't really have enough time to do any of the major attractions. We were to meet our driver at ASMovies at 6 and didn't want to be late.
We arrived back at the hotel, retrieved our luggage, and took some more pictures to replace the ones I thought I had lost. Our FLTours driver arrived promptly and whisked us off to MCO. Good bye Mickey.
When we arrived at the airport, our boarding pass was a B even though we were 1 1/2 hours early. When we arrived at the gate, the flight was already delayed 40 minutes because of approching thunderstorms. The flight ended up being delayed 2 hours. (Can't complain because the rain waited until we were out of the parks.) Had a lovely Easter dinner eating pizza in the airport. Arrived in Baltimore and retrieved the luggage. It was damp on the outside but it was 1am and we still had a way to go so didn't check to far into it.
Arrived home at 2:30 am. Opened the luggage and EVERYTHING in all three suitcases was soaking wet. A box of Mickey Mints I had bought for my mom was in the plastic bag still and I could pour water out of the bag. The mints were dissolved. Two library books were ruined. Luckily, none of our clothes were ruined but I had to wash even the brand new shirts we had bought in Disney. The only clothes that were dry were our dirty underwear that were in a closed plastic bag. When I called SouthWest in the morning I was told that I was supposed to have reported any damage before leaving the airport or within 4 hours. They did take a report and I wrote a letter. Time will tell if they come through. But for right now, SouthWest is not high on my list.
All in all, it was a great trip. It was crowded but that really didn't interfere with us seeing what we wanted to see. Planning and reading these boards really helped. It was good to have at least one more good family vacation before DD goes off to college in the fall.
