I'm trying to plan a trip to WDW but having a hard time finding a good week with my husband and kids' crazy schedules. I always said I do not want to go over spring break since it is so crowded, but I had a thought today that it would work best with the kids' school and extracurricular activities. I won't know if we can go for a couple weeks though. So my question is what are our chances of anything being available with only 3-4 weeks notice? Am I crazy for even thinking we make this happen?

It's going to be very difficult to find anything DVC for your days. Maybe you could find something to pay cash for (or non-DVC to use points for). Or off site.

Call MS today to see if they have anything available at this point.

Good luck getting a room. I can't imagine any of the resorts having an open room. I would assume any reservation that someone calles to cancel will go to someone who is on a waitlist.

Keep us updated.

Just been planning the same thing these past 2 weeks....plenty of studios around but, 1 bedrooms are only available at ssr and okw. We did 7 nights at ssr in a 1 br followed by the weekend of easter at bwv on a 25% cash discount (points that weekend are tooo much). Availability changed almost daily as we searched for the right place/time so call 'till you get what you need

We've gone during Spring Break the last 10 years. This year DDs Spring Break is 3/31 - 4/9. Knowing that it is going to be week before Easter and crazy busy, we've decided to skip this year and go some other time.

Spring Break is not bad in and of itself; it's the perfect storm of the week that happens to be Spring Break and Easter that is terrifically crowded. We've had years where our Spring Break fell in times that it was actually very quiet in Orlando.

Don't do it, your vacation memories will consist of "that 100 minute wait in line for Soarin" as opposed to anything more magical...:sad2:

Everybody and their brother's sister's best friend's former roommate will be there.:crowded:

Except us. :thumbsup2

Palm and Easter weeks are only slightly less busy than Christmas to NY.

if you can pick another week - do it.

plus not to mention those point cost hurt. very expensive.

We're going 3/29 - 4/5 and will be staying at the BWV and I can't believe I'm doing it again. A few years ago we were there during Easter break and I said never again but what do you do when that is your child's spring break? Every where will be crowded. The charter airport terminal at MSP had a line outside on the Friday we left! (it was Good Friday). This year we're leaving on a Thursday so that should help.

The parks are open very late and early, the weather is great, the crowds are not. We never did get a Fast Pass for Test Track that trip!

If that's the only time you can go and you don't have another destination in mind than just enjoy it for what it is crowds and all :goodvibes Good luck - hope you find accomodations!

You know - this is another point to consider when making travel plans. Last year, DH drove a group of college kids to Florida and traffic was so bad that the six hour trip took 13 hours. When we went to Disney the year before(and not at Easter), it took us three extra hours because of traffic - not Orlando traffic per-se, but Florida beaches in general traffic.

Dh and I are getting ready for a few days stay at WL that we booked about 5 weeks ago but we are paying AP rates for them, not even trying to use our points. When we called, we asked for absolutely any openings at a Deluxe. Spring break is going to be packed...

I think you all are talking some sense into me now. I think I just really want to go that I was willing to consider spring break. I'm not one that likes the big crowds (I thought the 2nd week of June was bad a couple years ago) so it probably wouldn't be one of our better trips. Thank you for all your input. It is so hard now to find a time to go. My only other options at this point are Memorial Day week, the 2nd week of June, or Fourth of July week. I'm leaning toward Memorial Day, but the kids would have to miss some school and a soccer tournament. Any time we go, we'll be missing something, so I guess I'll just have to deal with it!

Have you considered just going to a beach? Tybee Island off the coast of georgia's very laid back and you may still be able to get a hotel there.

Vero's completely booked.

Port Charlotte and Sanibel Islands are a little lesser known, you can probably rent a condo at either place and the beaches are spectacular.

We'll be at SSR the week before Easter, that is our spring break week. I'm ready for the crowds! By noon, you can find us at the pool!!

Bring it on!:cool2:

the pool? Don't you mean "human soup"?

Seriously, the one time we went when it was that crowded, we said "bring it on" the first day and by the last day we were saying "uncle!"

I fought the crowds and the crowds won!:rotfl: I think you are made of tougher stuff than me, Carol:thumbsup2
