Hi everyone!

We visit the parks a few times a year as we live within a few hours drive. We usually make it a two night trip, short and sweet, and prefer to go in January for low crowds (so we miss fireworks, parades, etc). But next year we would like to book in March or April and do something a little bit “more” for our kiddos and see all that’s being done for the 70th celebration. They will be 5 and 8. We usually stay at Hotel Lulu or Hyatt House, but for this trip we would like to stay somewhere with a fun pool and add a day for the kids to enjoy that.

I know weather can be fickle but is it generally warm enough to use the pools in March or April? If so, which good neighbor hotels have the best ones? If we wanted to splurge and stay on site, which of the 3 properties would you recommend?

We typically do a full day at DL and one at DCA, but may splurge for park hoppers and an extra day to really go slow and fully enjoy the magic especially as our visits get better and better the older our kids get (we’ve been taking them since our oldest turned 2.) I was thinking of doing day 1 at the parks, day 2 pool day, day 3 at the parks.

Any other tips to make this trip feel different than our usual quick in and out visit would be welcomed! 😊

Something to keep in mind is that Easter is April 5 next year. Spring breaks will be heavy leading up to April 5. Fewer schools have spring breaks in mid to late April. If you are looking for warmer weather, you might consider the 2nd half of April.

Here are the event calendars for 2024 and 2025. It will give you an idea of what events happen during what time of year. In March or April 2026, we should still be celebrating Disneyland's 70th birthday. California Adventure will be 25 in February 2026. I haven't heard of any nod to that birthday.

For a special trip a resort hotel would be perfect. Disneyland Hotel has really fun slides and pools. Staying in the bubble is great.
Do you happen to know if the pools are heated? Wondering if it’ll be warm enough (mid 70s-80?) in March?

Our kids love the Disneyland hotel pool. So fun!

If thinking of off site places, Cambria (further away but includes a hot breakfast), Hojo and Courtyard Marriott theme park entrance have pretty neat pool/play areas. Cambria and Courtyard have slides and Hojo has a big splash pad area plus a separate regular pool. Our kids loved the hojo splash pad area when they were your kids ages. Plus you can get a view room at the hojo (and courtyard). It’s fun to hear the train and see the monorail go by. Plus fireworks from the room is always exciting too.

Have a fun trip.

We stayed at the Hojo when our kids were around those ages and they absolutely loved the splash pad area! We had a small suite that had bunk beds, which was also fun. They initially fought over the top bunk, but ended up just sleeping up there together, lol.

The only downside was no restaurant on site, but there was a sit down restaurant right across the street and a Panera on the way where we grabbed breakfast. The walk back did feel a bit long at the end of the night, so we definitely were glad we brought a stroller for our younger kiddo.
