So our trip plans have changed and we have had to move our Thanksgiving trip back to next spring break. For us that is the first week in April. Any special things to look out for at the Fort during this time? We are Fort first timers, if we can ever pull it together for a trip :rotfl: Also I've just started planning for this trip after immersing myself in fall plans so what can you tell me what Florida weather in April? We've done summer several times and are not lovers of the FL heat.

Anytime is a great time at The Fort. Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is going on then.

I just booked for the same week! This will be our first stay at the fort, so I can't help with that, but we were there the first week of April this year and it was by far my favorite time to go compared to June and November. The weather was wonderful. We had a few days in the 90's where it was hot if you were in direct sun, but we are afternoon break people so that didn't affect us too much. Even then it's a normal amount of humidity versus that Africa-hot-wall-of-heat that hits you during the summer. It was warm enough in the morning that we didn't have to wear sweatshirts, so we didn't get stuck carrying them around later in the day like in November. (One night we wished we had brought them to see Wishes, but otherwise never needed them, it stays warm so late there.) I had heard so much about "Easter crowds" that I was really nervous, but it didn't feel any busier than summer to me. We followed www.easywdw.com's recommended days and didn't have a problem with crowds. MK opens as early as 7 am the two weeks surrounding Easter and those are such nice touring days. (We walked on Dumbo several times in a row with no wait, how often does that happen?!) The parks do get VERY crowded in the afternoon and evening so if your crew can handle early mornings you're better off doing those than late nights. We are hoping to do a fireworks cruise or watch Wishes from FW beach for this trip to avoid some of the late night crowds at MK.

I'm interested to see if others can chime in about the fort. I think there's an easter egg hunt maybe?

I'm so glad to read your post about crowd levels. I was getting kinda nervous but unless we brave summer heat again we don't have much of a choice for when we go. I think we will still do a late night or two because we love MK after dark but I'm really pushing for us to be rope dropers this trip. We've never done that and I think it would be fun.

I really think using good touring plans and rope drops are key for this time of year. FP's run out so early, so it helps to get a lot done in the morning. We did a split stay last year of onsite and offsite and we were offsite for the MK morning. MK opened at 7 am for onsite guests and 8 am for offsite. We were able to do everything we wanted from 8-10 with 0 to 15 minute waits, it was so fun. For me the weather made such a difference. Even though it's really crowded people didn't seem as pushy/crabby to me because they weren't so miserable from the heat. Especially now that our older son is a "Disney adult", it makes so much more financial sense for us to go in August for free dining, but we decided it was worth the extra $ to go for SB and have nice weather!
