It's just our luck!
With moving and everything, Chelsea only came home yesterday from school covered in spots!, at first they wasnt that bad, after doing the usual mum role of running around like a headless chicken and sending martyn off for my mother, and then doing the glass test we opted for Measles!!!
I took her in this morning and the doctor has confirmed she has got "German Measles"! they are red and clusted and very sore round her knees, she seems normal in herself though, been eating etc, she just seems a little worried by it all, she keeps checking them and crying cause they are getting redder.

And now Martyns brothers partner is worried as she is 10weeks pregnant and its dangerous to people who are pregnant so she has to ring her dr after 4pm today.
Chelsea school confirmed she is the 1st ever case of "German Measles!" in there school and are now sending newsletters out to all parents.

I feel horrid for her :(
She had all her MMR jabs and pre school boosters etc, but she has still caught them :( Bless.

Beth x

Oh no beth, what a nightmare!
Hope Chelsea gets better soon!:grouphug:

My 18 month old had Rhuebella at around 14 months old, which was before she had her vaccination (which we still took her to, even though it would have saved us £80).
Its noticable because there will be cold like symptoms a few days before the rash, a runny nose is very common. Apart from that, they shouldnt really be effected.

The unfortunate thing is that it is infectious before the rash comes out, so you can expose a pregant woman without even knowing it....I had the same nightmare in that my sister was in early stages of pregnancy at the same time, and they had been in close proximity....I was really worried about it. She went to the doctors and had a blood test to test her immunity, which thankfuly came back that she was still imune.
Hope everything is ok.

Oh no, poor Chelsea, I hope she feels better soon :)

Aww...hope she gets better soon Beth:D

Update:

Martyn's Brother rang earlier, They have spoken to her DR and he seems to think she will be ok, as she has not been that close to her on the day they came, and she has had all her jabs, and had them when she was younger, if she is concerned she can go in, but she said she will see how she goes on, her choice I suppose.
I think she will be fine.

Chelsea seems happy, more so for having a week or so off school (kids!) and being waited on hand and foot lol.

Beth x
P,s thanx everyone :)

Poor Chelsea!!

Beth - I suggest you sit her on the sofa snuggled up with a duvet. Lots of yummy food and strawberry milkshake and loads of Disney films to watch :) (Well at least you know what I would like if I was poorly) LOL

Get well soon Chelsea!!!!!

Oh poor Chelsea

I'm sending some pixie-dust, so I hope she feels better soon:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
