I just finished listening to Kevin's review of Artist's Point and it could have been an account of my own dining experience there. In terms of taste, there were elements of our meal that were outstanding, but there were some really mediocre points as well. We were seated near the kitchen despite the restaurant being empty. Also, there was an air of pretentiousness that just didn't seem warranted. My husband and I enjoy fine dining and never miss an opportunity to dine at Jiko or California Grill, but Artist Point while good, just wasn't great. I have never heard anyone capture that as well as Kevin, so I wanted to give a shout out to Kevin and his communication prowess.

While we are on the subject of fine dining, any chance for a podcast review of Victoria and Albert's??? Have any members of the Podcast team eaten there?

We ate there two weeks ago. We mistakenly thought we had two meal credits left per person, but had only one. Server was great in handling it, but still, we would not have dined here if not for thinking we had the credits (we were staying at WL). That said, the meal was okay. I had tenderloin, wife had signature salmon dish, and son had pork chop. Tasty yes, but worth the $150 it ended up costing minus tip? Don't think so. And just like Kevin, we had an earlier ADR that we had to change to later, and had no problem. The restaurant was EMPTY when we arrived shortly after 8pm. Hmmmm....

Sounds like a roll of the dice to me. Glad this place didn't make our ADR for this week!

Via iPhone....Passing through St Augustine and getting rained on:-(

A little birdie told me that the chef from A.P. has listened to the show...

Hopefully that's a good thing and he will take it as the best kind of constructive criticism.

DH said the same thing as Kevin about his salmon, I had the pork chop which was very good. I think we also had the same server as Kevin and co, he was really fantastic :thumbsup2 We had quite a late ADR and he chatted with us for ages (after all his other tables were sorted) my SIL's were giving him some stick and he took it on the chin - we had a great night :lovestruc I agree about his classic film star look ;)

We're looking forward to going back again (to WL) in Dec but am a little nervous about The Captains Grille (not been there previously) just incase we feel the managers wrath  We may cancel this one :confused3

'The cuter the animal, the better it tastes!' :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

'Do you have panda?' :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:laundy: (my son wanted me to put this up. It has nothing to do with my post)

One hopes that somebody from upper WDW management has listened to the Yacht Club Galley part.

I actually ate at AP two weeks ago and we were only charged one meal and not 2. The receipt said call front desk for remaining entitlements. I never did call the front desk and it was not until the next night at dinner did I realize that we had extra meals. I went back through the receipts it said for dinner at AP 2 entitlements used instead of 4. We were happy beacuse we were going to have to pay out of pocket for one of our sit down meals but ended up not having to. I was going to call the front desk after I saw that on the receipt and forgot by the time I got back to our room later that night, and then remembered the next day after I saw we had a extra meal..

I have to offer a resounding 'ditto'. DH and I ate here in January. We both had the mushroom soup (very good!) and the highly-touted cedar planked salmon. We both thought it was good, but not worthy of all the raves we had been hearing (and therefore expecting). We skipped dessert at the restaurant (we were staying on the club level) and had some of the cobbler upstairs later.

I guess I can say I'm glad I tried it, but thought it was very pricey relative to the whole experience.

I'm glad to hear Jiko is a 'wow'- we have ADRs for October. And now I'm tempted to add the Brown Derby to our list, too.

Keep the reviews coming, Kevin!

I had to giggle about the mushroom soup description. Yes, it does look like the color of concrete, but man, that soup is really good!

Here's a semi-blurry photo of mine:

I do like Artist Point overall. I thought the Coffee Two Ways dessert was good, and my filet was cooked perfectly. I hadn't any complaints about my meal there, but that was last October. The server I had was definitely a seasoned pro, too.

Sadly, the Coffee Two Way's dessert is no long on the menu.

Here's another pic of that soup, concrete is exactly the term I would use to describe. But it is delicious.

Sorry, not a great pic, clear but dark.
