My wife and I were discussing this over the weekend. Love it or hate it, SpongeBob is arguably one of the most popular cartoons of all time. It's the type of show that will show reruns for years and years to come. Universal has a fantastic SB store, but that's all. The lines to meet the characters from the show are the longest to meet any characters at Universal. And if there's 1 area Universal could use even more of an edge against Disney, it's in the little kids demo. So, here was my thought:

-Change the theme of Curious George's Playhouse to Bikini Bottom. You're getting soaked anyways.

-Gut the Animal Actors show and make an entire ride based on SB.

-Expand the SB store to create a Krusty Krab burger joint.

I've heard rumors the Kidzone is on a list of area to be replaced in the next few years but have not heard what the area would be rethemed as. Comcast has pledged LOTS of money for new attractions for the forseeable future...which would mean a new attraction at either park every year. So...there's no telling what will happen next...that area could be rethemed as soon as 2015.

Given Universal's attention to detail, a Bikini Bottom area with a KK would be absolutely phenomenal.

They could build a whole Glove World.

Our family talks about this all the time. We LOVE SpongeBob. The cartoon appeals to adults and kids alike. They could make a whole land out of bikini bottom. There are so many possibilities.....would HAVE to have a ride dedicated to Plankton trying to steal the crabby formula. Would be really fun to have something special around Halloween centered around the "hash slinging slasher"....:rotfl2:

As the father of a 9 year old girl, I think the best thing they might could do to pull away some of the young girls going to Disney to see princesses might be to secure the rights and build a My Little Pony section.....except I'm not sure I want to see the creepy Bronie segment attracted to it as well.

Most of the rumors I've heard are that Kidzone is going to be re-themed as a Smurfs area.

Those are old rumours started by a Universal survey.

I haven't heard anything more specific lately about the new theme. It is quite a large area and who knows how many themes they could actually put in there!

I don't think we'll see any changes there for a few years. This year we've got Diagon Alley and next year it will be the Jurassic Park expansion. So maybe the year after that?

Is the Jurassic Park expansion official? It's my favorite ride, I would love another ride.

It has not been announced. There are several strong rumours for the expansion. These include a themed wooden coaster and a flat ride PLUS a new Kong e-ride that would go in the plot beside Thunder Falls Terrace.

That's a good sized plot too...they used TFT as a house during HHN 2006 and I couldn't believe the space we saw behind the restaurant.
