Spoke to a guide tonight about buying at PVB. We were told we would go in a line up, and that our use year would be determined by where we are in the line. He told us likely it would be October. This doesn't sound right to me and sounds like a sales tactic. We told him we want a sept UY- we travel almost always between sept-April and an oct use year is no good for our sept trips. He says he will check and get back to us. My ******** meter is ringing- am I wrong?

I have never heard of that before. Are you a new buyer or addin on

When we bought our first contract they proposed a UY but we insisted on another. We had to push but the salesman did it anyway

The only thing I could think about what they are saying is if they have only declared a limited number of points thus far in each UY and are optimistically thinking they might sell out of some but seems strange. I'd stand my ground and insist on the UY you want and if you need to ask for a new guide

He who pays the piper should be calling the tune...

Although the Guide might not have communicated it very well, it sounds like part of the normal process DVD uses in issuing a Use Year to new buyers. I assume the OP is a prospective member who will be able to purchase PVB when sales open to the general public on February 9, 2015. For quite some time now, DVD has offered new prospective buyers a specific Use Year, which is about four to six months prior to the current date. For example, most new buyers of Villas at Grand Floridian who joined in November or early December were being offered deeds with June 2014 Use Years. Now, those who bought in December are being offered the August 2014 UY.

It would not surprise me if by February 2015 DVD offers new buyers a September or October UY.

Although DVD offers a specific UY to prospective buyers, it does seem to have limits on how far back in time it will go. A new buyer today might not be able to get a February 2014 or March 2014 UY. But that doesn't mean that they couldn't get a later one if they explained their situation to their Guide.

I would say it's next to zero possibility that if you tell them you will only buy if you get a Sept UY that they wouldn't do that. But it's not unheard of to be told it isn't possible and having to push back to get what you prefer.

It's your money. Try telling him what you'll take for the thousands you are paying. See if he changes his tune.:confused3

Exactly. YOU are the customer.

I would be shocked if you didn't get the Sept UY. The guide probably has to speak to a supervisor! It's probably like wdrl says.

When we bought VGF we were new and I remember the guide telling me that I would get a certain UY. This was before they actually went on sale, I was put on the list of ppl to buy the day sales opened to newbies...Anyway, he said a certain UY, it could have been June, and I said that I wanted a different one, and it was no problem. I don't even remember what I have (I want to say Sept but I could be wrong). I did get that years points when I closed, whereas other UY's didn't come with the points if I am not mistaken, so maybe they try to get rid of the UY's that don't come with points for the year? Or maybe he was just being a pill and needed some coffee :confused3

Seems silly...
