Splitting up payments with DDP

I'm wondering if this is possible? We have 10 ADRS for our 7 night trip and we're on the regular DDP. Thus, we only have 7 TS credits. The adult Character breakfasts aren't good value on the DDP, but the kid's meals are a great value (especially with that holiday surcharge). Likewise, at some restaraunts (like Le Cellier) the adult meal is a terrific value, but the kids meals don't cost much more than CS. I was wondering if I could split up payment. In other words at a Character Breakfast pay for the 2 adults OOP and the 3 kids with the DDP, and then when going to Le Cellier paying for the 2 adults with the DDP and the kids OOP. Has anyone ever done this? Is it too confusing for the servers? Is it worth the hassle?

I don't see why you couldn't do this as long as the meals are paid for. I think people get into trouble when they try to split meals in order to stretch their DDP credits. But if you are actually paying for the extra meals, it shouldn't matter to your server whether you're using a DDP credit or paying OOP.

yes you can do exactly what you're talking about -- just make sure your waiter is clear on which meals are DDP and which are cash. People do this kind of thing all the time.

Thanks! I know it's only a matter of a few dollars, but every little bit helps:goodvibes

We did it twice on the last trip because my DS wanted an adult meal at Chefs. So we paid OOP for him there and used the DDP on all the other meals. Then we had a spare child's credit to use up, so we went to 50s Prime Time and paid OOP except for his meal.

It was somewhat of a hassle because apparently, the servers have to go through some extra steps to get the credits deducted properly. The server in France was very, very nice, but she had trouble and told me she had to have her manager help her. The server at 50s P/T did it and then brought me the receipt and apologized for taking so long to bring it but said he'd had some trouble getting it all square.

I hope this helps.

Tell the waiter to put the orders in on separate tickets as if it was two separate parties at the table - they have parties dine where half the people are on the DDP and the other half are not - they split those table as separate orders all the time. Cash orders on one ticket and DDP orders on the other ticket. The problem happens when they start with all the orders on the same ticket, then try to not have it all go through on the room card/DDP. By starting with separate tickets, they would avoid having to monkey with the system to split them out when they ring it through.

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure to ask for separate tickets for those places:thumbsup2
