I have read a number of posts from people who split their stay between two resorts..I never thought of doing that before! We are thinking about doing this in August--we (myself, husband, and 3 children) would like to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge and also at the Beach Club ( a total of seven nights) Can someone please tell me the logistics? If you have to check out of one resort at 11:00, what do you do with all your luggage until 3:00 when you can check in at the other resort? Would it be better to just stay at one resort the whole time?
Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Have stayed at both resorts, and both are nice. I prefer the BC over he AKL, because I like the theming better at the BC. The proximity to the animals is cool at the AKL, though. The location of the BC is better.

MHO, stay at both, start at the AKL and finish at the BC. On the day of your move, pack up your luggage and call Bell Services. Tell them you are transferring hotels, They will take care of getting your stuff to the new hotel. When you leave the park(or whatever you're doing for the day), return to the new hotel and check in like normal. The new hotel Bell Services people will bring your luggage to your room. It's very simple really. We split our stay almost every time we go.

My parents have split there last two stays and loved it. Just like previously said above, bell services takes care of everything. My parents always check in late afternoon but they have called from the parks once and found out that there room was ready early. It's real simple and if you staying long I recommend it.

Really? Are transfers that simple?

A CM at CRO told me I'd have to get to the transportation center with my luggage and from there on to the next resort. She told me that Disney does not move us to the new place.

Was she wrong?

The CM you spoke to was wrong. You do not need to take the luggage yourself. The hotel will take care of it for you. We split our stay last time between the Polynesian and Yacht Club. It was very easy - so much so that we are splitting our stay this June between AKL and Polynesian!

Hi Onthego:

We are doing the same thing for the first time, how many days are you staying at both, I was not sure what to do.

Here is our schedule we are driving for two days, arrive around l.00 p.m. at akl for three nights, transfer to the poly for 5 nights,(was not sure to do 6 at poly and 2 at akl) next (i day at hrh this is iffy we have never seen universal) then to the dolphin for 4 days.

First time I have ever split, I want to get the feel of each resort, hard rock was an afterthought, so just for fotl ride pass. Any comments?

We are staying at AKL for the first four nights and Poly for the last four nights. I wasn't sure how to split the stay, either, but I want to have enough time at each hotel to feel settled. Does anyone have any input as to a better split between these two hotels?
Last time we spent four nights at Poly followed by four nights at YC and we were very happy with how that worked.

I sometimes wonder whether I am jumping around too much, but we have not been to wdw or any big vacation for 6 years, and I want to try everything. I don't know when we will get back, especially as a family unit.

We have never seen the universal parks, and understand it is way better to stay onsite for fotl admission, rather than standing in long lines in the heat.

We did not even think of trying the split untill we were staying longer than a week. We try out one resort for 3-4 days and than switch over to our home away from home (the Polynesian) for a week. If I was just going for a week, I would not split (just my opinion). When we try out the other resort for 3 or 4 days it gives us a good feel for the place but you never quite settle in. We don't even unpack if it is just a few days.

We usually split a 7-9 night stay equally between two resorts. This June we'll be doing 4 nights at Polynesian then 5 nights at Dolphin.

I was very against splitting in the beginning, but DH wanted to try WL and we couldn't afford it for the entire 7 nights. It was so much fun and so easy, we do it every trip now. One trip we even moved just for the last night to save the trip (horrible stay off-site) and even the one night was well worth the effort.

We always have a rental car, so we move ourselves. We try to make the day we switch a nonpark day, but usually we end up going to the park anyway and it never interfers with our plans. Even with little kids who need naps, it has always worked out great.

The one thing I've heard is that if Disney is transferring your luggage, they don't guarantee it will be at the next resort until 3pm, so most people make sure they take a small bag with bathing suits or anything else you might need midday. That being said, most people say there stuff is still usually available whenever they need it.
