We are looking at traveling with family. Not everyone will be there the entire week. We were thinking of splitting the week between a one bedroom and a two bedroom. Will DVC actually consider this two reservations and require me to wait several days to book 2nd half of the week? I am hoping to take care of it on a single call???

As far as I know, because it's two different booking categories, it will be two different reservations. You will need to book the first room type, and then wait for the 11 month window to open for the second portion (assuming you are using the 11 month window).

You are correct!

Just do it online, and then you don't have to waste your time on the phone :)

One piece of advice: Make sure your Two Bedroom reservation is for a LOCKOFF room and you might be able to stay in the same physical unit the entire time. A lockoff 2B is simply a One Bedroom + Studio with the connecting door open. On the day that you gain the Studio, they MIGHT be able to arrange for it to be the room right next to the 1B you're already using.

We've done it the other way in the past--started with a larger 2B room and then downsized to just the 1B or Studio toward the end of the trip. The request to stay in same room was mentioned at check-in and the resort was able to accommodate.

It's more difficult when you're moving up to the larger room after your stay already commences. The resort would have to plan in advance to place someone in the neighboring Studio who is departing on the day you gain the extra space. But it's worth asking.

If the resort cannot fulfill the request, you'll have to completely vacate the 1B villa by 11am on the move day, store all of your belongings (including food) and you probably won't gain access to the larger 2B villa until around 4pm.

The only problem with booking a lockoff. If it isn't OKW, the second bedroom will have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. If you are at OKW, the second bedroom would have two queen beds. We did do this at OKW several years ago when we stayed longer and our friends joined us after a few days.
