If DVC doesn't have a resort for the entire stay and you split between two, do they move your luggage for you so you can still enjoy the parks? If they do, is there a charge for this? We are not staying long, so losing a day to change resorts doesn't sound so good.
Thanks!

We did a split stay last summer and doing it again this summer. On your check out day, you can bring your luggage to bell services (or call down and have someone come and get it-you have to wait for them though) and tell them where you want it transferred. They will then put it on the list and it will be sent to your new resort.

When you get to the new resort and are in your room, you can call the new resort's bell services and they will bring it up to you. Again, you do need to be there for them to deliver it.

Transferred luggage usually gets to the new resort in the afternoon. It is pretty easy process.

Disney will move your luggage and even your cold things can be kept for you. Call Bell Services when you are ready to have your things picked up and mention that you want your belongings transferred to another resort. You should get a receipt. Then you are free to go, spend the day as you wish, and get to your new resort to check in. You have to be in the room for the luggage and other things to be brought to you.

Tips would be the only charge.

I like doing split stays and it's not difficult. Disney moves everything for you. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Yep what rentayenta says. In the 5+ trips we have yet to stay in one resort for the entire time, and we have stayed in all of them except SS. The trips range from 5 to 14 days long and we have yet to stay longer than 4 days in one resort!! :dance3: We get a new room every 2-4 days, maid service if you like it, the choice of rooms by checking in early, etc.:woohoo:
Disney takes care of the move for a small tip, $2-5 per bag both ways, we go to the new resort after breakfast, check in and either accept the room that is avalible or wait for the one we wanted when we made the ressie. More than 4 days in one room is just wrong!! :rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2:

My goal is to try them all at least once. We have stayed at the OKW, AKV, and GCV. I am hoping the next trip will be a split stay at our home resort SSR with 5 nights in a one bedroom and 5 in the THV. Maybe even SSR and BWV, the THV and BWV are tied right now.

We have done split stays 4 times and plan to do it again in Jan 2011. My plan this time is to take a taxi from BW to BLV’s, I estimate the cost to be $10. I’m doing it this way is because the last time I did a split stay going from WL to BW my bags got lost and didn’t show up until after midnight. I want to be sure my bags make it this time. Once I check in & drop off my bags I can do what I want for the rest of the day with no worries. :cutie:

One split stay, we had 22 bags and a flower arrangement loaded on one cart! Those bell hops earned good tips that day!

Wondering what you mean by tipping "both ways"? Do you tip the person picking up your bags as well as tip the person who delivers them to your new room. Just wondering ...I have never done a split stay before and I am considering adding 1 nite on to my current ressie @ POP .
Thanks :thumbsup2

When we had bell services handle our bags for the first split last year, we did tip at BWV (where we were leaving) and at BLT (when they brought them up). There was a bit of a mix up with the transfer so when we went from BLT to VWL, I moved them myself since we had a rental car.

On a split stay how does Disney handle the cold items in the refrigerator during the holding day of the move? We have our first split stay in November due to availability and are nervous about it.

They put the items in a fridge - just mark them or make sure the know which ones!
