Splitting Reservations?

Hi all!

So we are planning to stay in a DVC rental in January for 5 days. However, we'd like the full 5 days in the parks which does not allow for a travel day. Instead of paying big $$$ for a sixth night at a deluxe resort, we were thinking of just staying in a value resort on site on our travel day. Is this sort of thing allowed to split up resort reservations? I've never rented a DVC room before so any tips would be appreciated!

Sure, but is it worth it to have to move and be orphaned during that day. Comparing a cash room vs a DVC private rental, I doubt you'd save enough to matter when you add in the cash price, tax on room and tips to transfer. Not to mention the aggravation. I might stay off property if I was going to do this, even if using ME.

We have done that many times. We stay at a value resort at the end of our stay to save points and pay cash. If you drive a car, just load it in the morning then jump on the bus to the parks. Later, return to resort get your car and drive to your next resort. This could even be done after fireworks. I usually leave during the afternoon and move the car to the next resort and find the room. Then at night we just get on the bus and head the new resort. Now if you fly then that is done by calling bell services and they move your luggage. Once you get to the new resort and in your room call bell service for delivery. It is doable and done often I assume.

OP, you wouldn't be splitting a reservation but rather making two separate reservations: one reservation for five nights at a DVC resort and another entirely separate reservation for one night in a Value resort. You would work with a DVC member or one of the DVC rental brokers to make the DVC resort reservation. You would work directly with Disney reservations to make the one-night reservation at the Value resort. You would be homeless for several hours on your transition day since check out is 11am and your new room might not be available until late afternoon.

I am one of those strongly against doing split stays (within the park), however; in the the case of arrival or departure day and to save money, I would be open to doing so. I once stayed while traveling by car, stayed in Ocala and then drove into WDW the next day.
