Splitting our Stay???

My question is for anyone who has been to WDW around New Years. Is the weather warm enough to use the pools? I'm considering splitting our stay between POR and the Wilderness Lodge. I've always wanted to stay at WL but it's a little $$$ I don't know if I want to pay the holiday season price if we can't utilize all the amenities.

outdoor pools are a bit dicey that time of year. We spent some time in the pool one night (after all, it was 20 BELOW ZERO back in Illinois) but it did get really nippy in the evening and the kids just didn't want to "freeze" on the way back to the room...neither did DH and I...The weather can range from 80s-upper 60s during the day and dip down to low 40s in the evening. When we went in January, it wasn't with the expectation that we'd be spending much time in the pool, to be honest.
