splitting meals at TS restaurants

Is splitting meals at TS restaurants frowned upon? I hate wasting food (and money on uneaten food) and there may be times when my DD8 and I will want to split a meal rather than get 2. I try to tip well and would leave a tip appropriate for if we both ate, but wondered if the restaurants frowned upon this.

Do what you would do anywhere else.

I'm sure the wait staff doesn't like it because 1 entree costs a lot less than 2... but I'm with you in the no wasting food situation.

I figure if I am still tipping them like we had 2 meals they shouldn't be worried about how much we order. :)

No problem splitting meals at any of the TS restaurants.

DH and I would love to split some meals this year. We do it occasionally at other restaurants when we know the servings are huge. I don't see what the issue is. We are the customers buying a product and unless they can show you in writing some kind of law, they can't force you to buy two meals. They can, however charge you an additional few dollars for a plate and our experiences with most restaurants is that they will split the plate for you if it can be done (salad, side dishes, pasta). It's not something they will do with a piece of meat or something served in it's baking dish. But, otherwise, unless it's all you can eat or buffet, you can share a meal. I don't get where people ask if it's rude. Why would it be rude? It's not like you're a guest at someone's home where they're paying for your meal, you're paying for it. Even with so called "free dining" you are paying for it.

I also personally dont' care if the wait staff doesn't like it. It's not really their business.

Disney doesn't have a problem with sharing meals. Just tell the server that you are sharing and that's it.

I do give my standard warning about sharing. Disney is generous. If you are ordering something like a burger and fries (table service, not counter service), you will each get 1/2 burger but more than likely, you each will get a full serving of fries. That's happened to us. We have also ordered one bowl of cheddar cheese soup at LeCellier and asked for three spoons. We each got a slightly less than full serving of the soup (and charged for only one).

DD and I frequently share food at WDW, and everywhere else! As posted, often they split it in the kitchen and the presentation is not lost. I agree with the OP, I don't like to pay for food that gets thrown away. If we are at home, we might each get an entree and bring home a box of left overs.

Yes, we tip extra for the lower table cost when we share.

It seems that most of you agree that you can share TS meals - but does this still apply if you are on the DDP? :confused3 We are going in May on the basic DDP, and I know that my daughter (who is now considered an adult on the plan) and I could easily share most TS entrees. Will they let us do this, and will it only be one TS credit? I agree you should tip as though you ordered two entrees.

I would like to know this too, if on the ddp. I have thought about doing the same thing. My dd10 is considered a Disney adult and I think that is insane. She will waste alot of food.
