Splitting an existing reservation scenario?

We have a Riviera standard studio booked 12/1 - 12/12 (my first time seeing the holiday décor). We already had a May trip repeatedly rescheduled to 8/23 - 9/3, and Oct 5-17 booked - both 1 bdrms.
I'm a little hesitant going 12 days in a studio (just DH & I), but no 1 bdrms have come available.
Just recently, our son was talking about how he would like to see the Christmas décor, which got me to thinking: considering that we will have already spent almost a month at WDW in the past 4 month, plus this would be a smaller room, perhaps a bit less time might not be a bad thing.
This is my plan:
I leave myself as the lead for all 12 days
I add DH & myself, with a variation of my first/middle names, as the 2nd & 3rd guests for the first 8 days only. This way we can use Magical Express both ways.
For the last 4 days, the reservation would have me as the lead (although i won't physically be there), our son, & his girlfriend - that way they can also get DME.
**I would request our full housekeeping be changed from the fourth day to the 8th.
**I realize i may have to use my "me #2" or my husband's MBs for DME.

Does anyone have any input on why this wouldn't work, or if there might be any possible problems I'm not thinking of?

Just add all names as you can have 5. Then schedule DME for the days everyone needs. You can scheduled people on DME coming and going any day you want.

Since there is no dining plan, there is no need to jump through hoops when all 4 of you can be listed.

I have done several trips where some guests didn’t stay all nights. I listed them anyway and it was no issue.

To clarify, you can not list guests differently in a reservation that is one. Everyone is on for it all,

You can also not split a reservation into 2 that was booked as one unless there is still availability.

So there is no way to do what you want where some are there for 8 days, etc. in terms of how guests are listed. But, you and DH do not needs to stay in order for them to still be there since they will be guests.

I've listed people for only part of a reservation in the past at the Front Desk, so i assumed that would be the easiest with DME.
But if I can just list everyone & just pick each person's DME dates, that would be sooooo much easier.
Will it cause a problem to book the Lead name departing on DME prior to the end of reservation tho? Thanks so much!

Nope, not at all! We’ve had it several times with different DME. You can even add different arrival and departing at the same time when you fill it in!
