Splitting a stay between AKL and WL

My family and I are considering an eight day stay at WDW by splitting 4 days at AKL and then 4 days at WL. Has anyone split at stay between these two in one visit. If so, how was it? Thanks for any advise you could give. We have gone a couple of times but we either stayed at a moderate (POR & CBR) or offsite and are interested in trying out a deluxe. Also, it will be my husband's birthday and I was wondering what is something a nice surprise for him that wouldn't break the bank?

I love the WL? Actually AK and WL are the same hotel with different themes

With WL you are so close to MK, you can boat over and there is the electric water parade few times a week that is viewable from WL

I love staying at 2 different places and the beauty of it all is that WDW transfers your luggage for Free to the new hotel..
I would totally recommend this..

when I go in June splitting my stay between Poly and Boardwalk..

heck sometimes, i have split between 3 resorts
