Hi, Looking into adding on at BLT. I talked to my guide, but I forgot to ask one question and was wondering if anyone has done this.

If you want 150 points for example. Can you purchase that all at one time, but have it broken into three seperate contracts? I would like to own 3 50 point contracts than 1 150 point contract. But I would like to pay the $98 a point which is what 150 points would cost in one contract. Adding only fifty points raises the cost to 104. But I really am buying 150 just in three contracts.... Anyone do this and get the lower point cost?

BTW My guide said that the chase disney visa will only qualify the 10% down payment for the 6 months interest free. Has anyone else had a different experience?

I think as long as your total point purchase qualifies for the incentives they will break it into smaller contracts. I've never heard of a hard limit but I don't think they would be willing to break it down into more than 3 or 4 smaller contracts. In other words, I think they might baulk at doing five 25 pt contracts, but three 50 pt ones should be OK. We did a 200pt add-on last year and were able to break it into two 100 pt contracts easily.

Also, others have reported getting their entire balances under the 0% for 6 month Chase promo, but I don't think its guaranteed. It may require DVC accounting to enter some special code when they run the charge, but several others have reported them breaking a larger purchase into multiple smaller charges and getting the 0% APR on each charge.

Yes, they should do this for you. When I was adding on at BLT (130), I was going to do an 80 and 50, but then I realized that 130 was not too big and knew that the rest I buy will be in 50 point increments. But, I would have been eligible for the $96.00 per point (that is what BLT is right now over 125)
if I had done it that way!

Good luck!!!

Yes you can split a purchase into multiple contracts. My wife wanted 300 points split between 3 100 pt. contracts. (The idea was to then will a contract to each of my 3 nephews.) One advantage of this (if I remember correctly) is that it reduces your closing costs. From what I remember, MS used one contract of 100 points as the initial purchase and then the other 2 as add-ons. So we only paid closing on 100 points. We paid the then discount rate ($94 for AKV) for all 300 points.

Thanks for the answers. My wife and I are going to buy two 50 point contracts now. I like the idea of have the points, but in smaller contracts.

Just to clarify to anyone who might be reading this, if you are adding on, you can break up your contracts however you wish. But if you are purchasing new from DVC, you must do one base contract for at least 160 points. Anything over and above that can be split up however you like.

Oh - and to answer your other question, the official Chase Disney Visa policy is 6 months no interest only up to 10% of your purchase price or $2500, whichever is greater. That being said, others have reported getting zero interest for greater amounts, including entire purchases. Based on what I've read, that requires a very savvy guide who splits out the charges into several smaller increments and codes it correctly.

Some new buyers are reporting being allowed to split their 160 into two contracts, as long as the first one is 100. This is a change from just a few months ago.

I am one who is getting the interest on my whole purchase and not all my payments were done through my guide. My biggest charge (over $7000) was put on through Quality Assurance and that qualified for the promotion. So, if it is something that is done on DVC's part to the CC company, QA can do it to (and my whole purchase went to the card in a total of 4 charges).

I think that Chase is simply allowing all DVC purchases right now to qualify for the promotion. Of course, my plan was to pay it off when the bill came so I wouldn't do this for bigger amounts if I didn't have the means to pay it, but it is a nice perk.

I just added on another 50 points and will be paying via my Visa again. So, we will see what happens with the newest amounts.

I just bought 270 points at BLT on Thursday and was told i needed one contract of at least 160 points. So I split them 180/90 with the expectation I will likely add on another 270 in about 4 years and can leave 180 points per kid.

However, when I was there in September the promotion they had at AKL was that you could start with a base of 100points. I am not sure if they still let you do that at AKL. BLT was announced for sale on the day after I came home.

Do all 100 points have to be at the same resort? We have decided that we want to go ahead and finish our plan to add on 100 points but we would like to split them 50 BLT and 50 SSR. Would this count? Or would we have to do 2 - 50 at BLT?

Interesting - I looked at my Disney Visa account activity and since I split my contract, it's showing 2 separate charges of less than $2500 each for my deposits. So there's another advantage of splitting your contracts : )

I have read that they are allowing this and people have been given the incentives for the total.

Of course, I would certainly contact your guide to see. But, if the guide doesn't think so, I might ask him/her to check with a manager as sometimes they can/will approve things the guide can not.

Good luck!

My deposit posted to my account a few days after I bought so yours will show up soon. Of course, I purposely timed the add on so that the charge happend just as my last statement closed, so I won't know if this qualifies for the promotion until July, when the statement comes.

I even set up the final payment to auto charge after the next statement closes in early July, so that won't come due until at least August!
