Hi everyone,

I leave in 7 days for my first stay in CR. I am interested in going back in Dec 2004 and I am already starting to plan that trip. I was thinking abotu spliting my stay, 5 days at Poly for sure, but then I was thinking maybe we should stay at OKW or Dolphin or SS (will it be open then?) What do you all think?

My daughter & I love to split resorts! It's like having 2 different vacations. We usually do a moderate & deluxe, or if the rates are great, we do an MK resort, & an Epcot resort. We leave the luggage transfer up to Disney & plan our "Move" day to be when we'll be at a park until about 1pm. We've only had to wait for our room to become ready once. We love it!:D

Wow that sounds like alot of fun. We have only stayed at the Poly so I cant comment about okw and we have visited the dolphin when staying at the swan. It can be done. I know you are one cool mama so you will have eveything organized, planned etc. Yes mary poppins, I mean me, once organized a vacation that included the poly, beach club and animal kingdom lodge. Only DH was getting a little grumpy at the end. (Comments like can't we just sit our butts in one place etc. ) Hmm looks like he was talking to a certain dwarf. I think 3 was a little too many resorts when we also had the 3 ds to keep track of. 2 is sounding much more manageable. Good luck. Trip planning is so much fun.

HELLO ALL,

AFTER READING EVERYONE'S RESPONSE TO THIS THREAD, I HAVE A QUESTION.
RIGHT NOW I AM BOOKED FOR 7 NIGHTS AT ALL STAR MOVIES. NOW, I AM THINKING OF MAYBE 5 NIGHTS AT THE ALL STAR FOLLOWED BY 2 NIGHTS A POR. IS THIS WORTH IT?

THANKS

LAH

I like switching resorts, but it seems to be a matter of personal choice. I don't mind packing up mid-vacation, it cleans up the clutter that usually takes up the last day of a trip. You can put some things in large Disney bags just to make getting it gathered up easier - do the clever suitcase packing when you're really leaving. The staff moves you while you're at play in the parks. It does require check-out and check-in time tho. So far this has been very minimal for us, but I guess at some resorts it could take awhile and could also depend on time of day. I think I'd switch for 5/2 nights, although I prefer to try to keep one hotel at least 3 nights - but it works. You could do 4/3. We usually stay at the fancier hotel 2nd, even if we're going from value to moderate. I think it's fun to explore a new hotel, but some people just like to know where everything is and don't like changes. We do! Sometimes too you really love the room you're in and don't want to give it up. But I usually forget that when we go to the next hotel. I guess that works in reverse too. Have fun!

LAH,

We enjoy it. I agree that a 4/3 might be better, but 5/2 isn't so bad either. I've even done 1 day stays before, but I don't think I'll do that anymore (unless it's to extend the value of a Unlimited Park Hopper Pass).

We did a 3/4 split....AKl then WL. Even though it allowed me to "discover" AKL..it is now our fav...I didn't like having to pack and unpack more than necessary. Regardless of how organized you are I think it would eat a bare minimum of 2-3 hours out of your schedule. I'm also not a fan of packing and especially of unpacking! If you have kid(S) it can be more problematic. We also had the issue of not wanting to leave AKL..WL was a let down afterward. Of course I didn't think to ask to stay which I now learned you can do. That being said some seem to love it...I'd rather pass. One exception to the rule I think is if you spent 4+ days at each place...then I could see how it would be worth it. We will give it a try this summer when we stay 10 days...4 at universal and then 6 at WDW...but I think that maybe a whole different thing.

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE EVERYONE!!!!!!!

IF MONEY PERMITS I WILL CHANGE MY RESERVATIONS TO 4 NITES AT ALL STAR AND 3 @ POR. IF NOT, 7 NIGHTS AT ALL STAR SHOULDNT BE ALL THAT BAD. IT'S JUST TWO ADULTS, NO KIDS.

QUESTION: HOW MANY FLOORS ARE THE BUILDINGS AT THE ALL STARS AS WELL AS POR?

You know I wanted to do that.... Split up the resorts some. Stay at Sports and then go to AKL but when I called I was told that I was unable to do that since I booked a package. heck it is going UP in price you figure a company would WANT your money... I wanted to surprise the GF with a nice room over looking the animals...

f0rdfx4 -- I'm surprised they wouldn't split the stay for you, especially since you wanted a more expensive resort. Does anyone know if this is the policy? You might want to call back and talk to another CM about this. Sometimes one CM will do something that another one won't...or doesn't know they can...do. I'm hoping your GF can get the animal surprise! My dh and I love AKL! :D

LAH Don't know about POR (never stayed there), but the All Stars have 3 floors. Word of advice: stay on either the 1st or the 3rd floor of your bldg. Less noise from neighbors that way. I think the 3rd floor is optimal, since there's no noise overhead. Also, try to get a room that doesn't have a connecting door to the next room. (Advice from someone who stayed in a 2nd floor room with a connecting door! ;) )

--miffy--

In Dec. we're staying 3 nights at the Poly and will do MK and Epcot. Then 3 nights at AKL concierge so we can go on the Sunrise Safari, visit AK and MGM. After that we have 2 nights at RPR at Universal. Most of the work of packing is figuring out what to take. When you're at your resort you just have to empty the drawers into the suitcase which shouldn't take too long.
