Split trip to multiple resorts?

I’m sort of torn between BLT with its monorail/proximity to MK, and Boardwalk which is cheaper and is in walking distance to HS/Epcot. Will have two kids age 4/5 going with wife. Is it reasonable or a good decision to maybe split my roughly week long trip in half between the two? Thought maybe I could experience the best of both worlds but maybe not if it’s too much hassle.

We have done split stays numerous times. Since the resort will transport your luggage for you that makes it a lot less of a hassle. Having to take the time to pack up in the middle of your trip may be something to consider. Otherwise it can be nice to experience a couple different resorts. I think at one time it may have affected your dining plan but that isn't something you need to worry about right now anyway. I say go for it. Oh and we love the Boardwalk!

We did a split trip last Sept and it was great 4 nights 4 different resorts...It was just me and my wife with no kids... was very easy and pretty cool to see all the different resorts

We did almost this exact split last month because we wanted to avoid Disney transportation as much as possible. We did 3 nights at Boardwalk and then 3 nights at Contemporary. It wasn't at all hassle for us - we dropped our luggage at one resort in the morning, went to AK (the only park we had to bus to), then returned to the new resort and our luggage and room were ready for us there. Being able to walk to 3 of the 4 parks throughout our trip was well worth the move.

Thoughts on swapping Boardwalk with Riviera so we can skyline to HS/Epcot?

Split stays are the best way! We’ve attempted to do it every trip we love it so much. And we always have children with us. You are “ homeless” after you check out of #1 & before you check into #2 so plan your day accordingly.

We have always stayed at just one resort. The hassle of re-packing/moving to another resort didn't seem worth the bother. We unpack when we arrive and don't repack until the day we are leaving to return home. Pick the hotel that works best for the park(s) you plan to visit.

Personally, I prefer being able to walk, but the Skyliner is also convenient. I would just keep in mind that when there's bad weather the Skyliner does shut down and then you may be forced to take a bus back to the resort. Just something to keep in mind in the months where it tends to be stormier.

The Rivera is a great resort but the Skyliner can be a challenge in the early morning currently (late starting and you may miss HS opening), anytime there is lightning in the area, and when it storms. This time of year is not ideal.

So when you would you be traveling?

Great advice. I didn’t consider that. We’ll be going around Labor Day most likely, but not until next year.
