Family of four here - have a family of three that looks like they'll be joining us. I made my ressies already, but want to add them ASAP while still able to get restaurants/times we want hopefully. If they book us at some places as party of 7 but split 4/3, what are the chances we will be sat together?

I'm booked and ready to go, still waiting for the other family to finalize . I want to secure our reservations but be able to, if they end up backing out on us, not lose the entire reservation. So if booking for 7, just trying to figure out if will be able to reduce ressie to 4 without having to make a new one, or if should try to see if can book them as 4/3 split if that would be easier to get rid of those 3 and keep my 4.

Given the busy nature of the restaurants and the way the bookings work, the chances that your 4 and their 3 would be seated next to each other is slim to none unless you are booking odd times - say, 3:15 lunches or 9:55 dinners or some such thing when theoretically the restaurant could have slowed down enough to have enough free tables to do that.

We had a similar issue last year, my cousin wanted her family to go on one of our trips but dragged her feet and hemmed and hawed over the whole thing, so I went ahead and booked our fours. She came along and we booked her fours at mostly the same times (some were 5 or 10 minutes off). We got seated near them once in six TS meals - at the Plaza, which has about 14 tables total, anyways.

We made some changes to our ADRs in November (Thanksgiving week). In order to do this we had to agree to a split ADR at LeCellier. When we arrived they asked us if we'd prefer to all sit together and we said we would, they said it would be a small wait and we agreed to wait. They took us to a table for all 7 of us within about 2 minutes (that was a small wait!). I don't know if we lucked out or if this is common or not.

Most people on these boards report that when they are told by the dining line they will have two tables they can usually be seated together when they approach the restaurant podeum and ask nicely.

We've always been a party of 7, and for many places when we'd make our reservations we'd have to split 4/3 on paper. We were never seated separately, however we always had reservations for the same time. The PP who didn't get seated together had reservation times close to each other and I wonder if that's the difference? :confused3

I agree with the PP who suggested just approaching the podium and asking to be seated together. They're usually very accommodating. :)

Most places are very accomodating and can get you all at one table - or at least next to each other. We had a group of 15 and when I booked the ADR's they were all split in the system. At each restaurant, we just asked and they did their best.

I would go ahead and book for 7 people now - if they decide not to come, it's easier to reduce the number than to add later.

Thanks, guys!
Well, I booked most for 4/3 split... but pretty much all our dinners are first seating time, so hoping that gives us better chance of sitting together. Some I booked as a 7.

We are 7 and the cast members have always been very accomodating with seating us together. As a previous poster said, sometimes we've had to wait a few extra minutes, but it's never been a major problem. Enjoy!

We were booked at 2 tables at Le Cellier and Mama Melrose and were seated together both times. We were a party of 7. I think they will make every effort to seat you together if they can. However, if it's a busy time it might be harder. We went last week which is value season.

We have one meal where our party is actually split (Table of 2 and Table of 3). They told us when I made the ADR that there is a good chance that we should be able to sit together (we're a party of 5 [obviously] -- 2 adults/3kids). We just have to let them know when we arrive (CRT breakfast).
