I've seen a lot of folks posting about splitting their trip between multiple resorts. What is the main reason to do this? I like the idea of getting to experience different resorts but the idea of moving to a different hotel in the middle of a trip (with 3 kids and all their stuff) seems exhausting to me. Am I missing something? Is there another reason to do this? Not hating on anyone, just wondering.
I wouldn't do it if I had three very young kids and all that luggage. But folks do it for lots of reasons, including:
Economy....wanting just a night or two at a Deluxe, but wanting to stay within a budget.
Location.....wanting to be near MK a couple nights, followed by an Epcot area resort, especially for the convenience of a mid day break.
Experience..... Just to sample different resorts, and/or test a resort for a possible longer future stay.
Availability..... Perhaps their first choice of resort did not have openings for all days of their stay.
Late or Early Flight...... Some folks have to make a choice to either stay at their departure city airport hotel before a very early flight, or leave in the afternoon the day earlier and spend that hotel money on a Disney Value Resort. That way they wake up already where they want to be instead of taking that 5am flight. This is especially true if their airport is a long distance from their home. Or some folks have a very late flight and don't get to their resort till midnight and don't want to waste money on their deluxe room the first night and plan to crash and sleep at a Value, before moving the next day.
Last winter I stayed at AoA one night last minute in order to fly out before a huge blizzard. Then, as planned, AKL-1nt, Grand Floridian-2nts, Saratoga -5nts, and Disney's Vero Beach-5nts. Just me and my carryon rolling bag! 5 resorts in two weeks! I stayed three nights solo, the rest with friends. I would do it again anytime.
