I hope this is the right board, my last thread got moved.

Today I tried to change my existing ressies to a split stay, 3 nights at POP @ rack rate, 6 nights at CBR with a discount code, with 9-day park hoppers and dining. The larger story behind it can be found here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=11952528#post11952528.

The CM said that in order to add the 3 nights POP, I'd have to pay a second deposit, and buy an additional day's pass (per person) to get dining for those days. Is this typical of a split stay? When I asked her that question, she said yes, but I see so many split stays on here that I find it hard to believe it's that complicated. Thoughts?

Yes, that is normal. Usually people will do it the other way around (long stay first) and just forgo dining for the second part to make the tickets a better value. Some do go with the 1 night ticket and use it another trip. Just be sure if you do that you put the 9 day ticket on the first stay or you won't have tickets to use for day 2 and 3. Hope that made sense.

I don't know about the extra ticket. But I know from past personal experience for each resort stay the guest pays a night's deposit. So yes, two different resort stays, two different deposits. Three resorts, three deposits, and so on.
It has been that way as long as I have been going to Disney (5 years).
The dining goes by the number of nights in a stay, rather than days.

I booked a split stay with dining and yes, I had to pay for another ticket but did not have to put down a second deposit. From what I understand, Disney treats a split stay as 2 separate ressies except they deduct a days charge for the dining plan. However, that doesn't explain why I did not have to pay a second deposit.
