Split Stays & Dining Plan

We are considering adding the standard dining plan to Part 2 of our 3 resort stay in June. Here's my question. I know we'd get 2 TS, 2 QS and 4 snacks per person over the course of those 2 nights (T, W). My past experience with the dining plan is that you can use those credits on the date of your check out up to midnight.

So my question is, if we check out of Resort #2 on TH, and I still have dining credits, can I use those during that day before I check into Resort #3 (i.e. to snack around Epcot)? Are our magic bands going to be a hot mess?

Yes, credits are good until midnight the day you check out. Have a great trip. Just an FYI, if you get the plan on the 1st part, you will have the refillable mugs for the entire trip.

I thought I read that, even though you have until midnight, once you check in to another hotel, that the dining credits are lost.

That was my biggest concern. That and when I updated my Resort #3 stay with member services, they did online check in for me already. I'm nervous that my extra credits would expire and we couldn't use them during the day before we actually got to Resort #3.

Maybe you're thinking of the case where there is a dining plan on both portions of the split. In that case, all credits from stay 1 must be used before credits can be accessed for stay 2. In the OP's case, only 1 reservation will have DP, so it will work as normal and that includes up until midnight even after checking in to another resort.

We did a split stay last year with the regular dining plan, and in order for the dining plan on the second part of our stay all of the dinning credits, including snack credits, had to be used before the next dining plan credits would be activated. We ended up getting a lot of waters on the resort change day.
