We upgraded from POR to AK for 2 nights in Aug. It will cost us an extra $372 for a standard room. That seems like an alful lot. Is there an extra fee in there for a split stay?

She mentioned something about 4 day park hopper on one reservation and 1 day on the other. I was thinking this may have added to the cost. Do we have to have a park pass to get the dining? I would drop the 1 day one as we have 2 days left over from last year. Am I making sense?

Thanks so much for your help!

I can't help you with tickets but yes, AK for 2 nights @$372 sounds about right. I checked another site and its said $225 a night @AK during value season. That's rack rate for a standard room.

If you have a package for both stays, you will have to buy a ticket for each package so that will add to the cost of the stay.

We had already paid off the first package. It is an extra $372. I had figured around an extra $100 an night. Especially considering it is the worst view at Animal Kingdom.

thanks again

There is NO split stay fee. We do a split stay everytime we go and it really is worth it.

Hope this helps.

In order to have the dining plan you need at least a one day ticket on the package. Unless you are DVC or have an Annual pass you will need to buy tickets for the second resort.

I want someone to sell me on the split stay. I think it would be a pain to take time out to switch resorts in the middle of our vacation. I know they move luggage for you and I really want to try it, but I'm not sold????

You may want to ask what is included in that $372. A split stay can get pricey if you are getting a package for each room since the bulk of the ticket expense is in the first 3 days. If you are paying for a second package, you may want to consider getting the tickets for your stay at the first hotel to cover your entire stay, then skip the DP when you are at AKL.

I just looked at ticket prices.

1 day park hopper $116 + tax
4 day park hopper $257 + tax
5 day park hopper $260 + tax

So, if you are buying a one day and a four day, you are paying $373 for 5 day tickets as opposed to $260 that you would pay if you kept all of the tickets on the first package.

The extra cost was from having to do a package for each room. I look at it now as the "hidden cost". Maybe we will try it next year and not do the DP and tickets on one of the stays. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for posting the ticket prices. That is where they were getting us. (I was just shocked at the extra cost for the worst view at the AK that I wasn't thinking of all the options). Anyway, we called and switched back to POR for the whole stay.

Thanks for the ideas.

This what we did on our last split stay.

6 nights @BC w/ 10 day park hoppers and DDP, then 3 nights Poly Conc. room only and then one night GF room only.

If you can live without the DDP for your AK portion, you'll save money. Just extend your park tickets on the first part of your stay and do room only at AK. Or maybe you can do AK Club level room only. I have no idea ho wthat would work out $$ wise, but if you do the park tickets for your whole stay on your first resort it may be that you break even. If I'm not making any sense, please ask me to clarify. It's all clear in my mind, but it may be getting lost in translation!:lmao:
