Hi, DIS'ers!

We are renting points for our dream trip this fall. (I'm going to law school next year, so this will be our last WDW trip for quite some time and next summer will be our last vacation for several years after a last hoorah with the 'rents at DLR!) Long story short, but we're going to buy as soon as I finish school and land a job, but we wanted to check out a few different resorts so we decided to rent. (I have two fantastic renters - one for the WDW trip in October and another for the June trip to DLR.)

BDH and I decided it would be beneficial to just use the QSDP this trip as we plan on doing a lot of eating at the F&W Booths.

We're doing a split stay (4 nights at AKV and 3 at SSR.) Can someone tell me how exactly a DP works on a split DVC stay? Our renter said he did a split stay a while back, and that we will be able to just pay up front for the entire week upon check-in. I'm just hoping that our credits won't expire once we move to SSR.

TIA!!

They are two separate reservations. Each dining plan will be separate. You will pay for, and receive, 4 night of credits when you check into AVK, those credit will expire at midnight of the day you leave AKV. Then you will pay for 3 nights of credits at SSR, and those wil expire at midnight of your final check-out day. Dining credits are not carried over from reservation to reservation.

Your plans will be separate, including two sets of mugs!!. We brought a Sharpie marker with us so I could label the KTTW cards from our first resort on check out day. I wanted to be sure I used those creidts up before starting the new ones since they would expire at midnight that night.

If you do online check in and put in a credit card, they will automatically charge your card the day of check in. When you arrive, everything will be all set.

If you want to pay for the dining plan in some other way (gift cards, reward points), then leave off the credit card information or simply forgo online check in.

Have a great trip!

Thank you for all of the fantastic advice! Our credits from our first resort confirmation won't expire until the end of check out day (midnight), correct?

We're planning on getting up that morning, leaving AKL and going to Epcot for a most of the day. (Our owner told us that we can make sure our bags get moved to the new resort via concierge and we don't have to be there for the actual move.)

I assume this means that we'll need to leave the park mid-day and go to the new resort to check in and pay for the next QSDP (credits)/pick up our new room keys prior to having access to our new credits?

Do you know if I need to use all of the credits from AKL before we check in to SSR since the cards will all have the same names? Or, is it OK to use the AKL credits through the entire day even if we check in to SSR before the credits are gone?

Eeep; a bit confusing to take in, but I'm sure we'll get the hang of it!

That's right! You can call bell services and they can have the bags transferred for you.

We always head the to new resort first thing in the morning, check in and then head to the park. If your room is not ready, they will call/text you and if you want, can then return to the resort and get settled in.

No, you don't need to use all the credits from AKL before checking in to SSR. AKL's won't expire till midnight and they will be different cards so you can use both the same day!

Have fun!!

You've been beyond helpful!

I have one more question, if you don't mind!

When you go straight from one resort to the other, how do you usually get there? We won't be renting a car this trip; do you get a taxi or go to a park then over to the new resort?

For us, I think if we went over to SSR before Epcot, the best bet would be to catch a bus to DTD, then walk over to SSR.

We have always had a rental car to get from one to the other. As PP mentioned, you can check in to SSR and then will have access to both your credits.

Without a car, I would do just as you suggest--take the bus to DTD and then head to SSR.

The only other piece with credits from two different stays is that when you go to order, you have to do it separate if you will need to use credits from both.

For example, we had 2 credits left on our old card and there were 4 of us. When I ordered lunch, I had to order two meals first, pay with the old card, and then do a separate order with the other card for the other 2 meals. Not a big deal, but just want to make sure the cashier knows so she can swipe the cards correctly.

Make sure you mark the resort ID cards from your first stay so you use them up on your check out day.

On that day you will have any left over from your AKV and your new ones from SSR stay also.

You want to make sure you use your AKV ones before midnight on the day you move.
