Doing a split stay on our next trip and were told by the travel agent we would receive two sets of Magic Bands that we could use the whole time, ie giving us double the number of fastpasses. I don't believe it. Who is right?

Our package is set up this way:
First three nights have a 8 day park-hopper attached.
Following five nights have no park tickets but do have dining added.

Thoughts?

Yes, you can use either magic band during your stay but you still only get 1 set of 3 FP+ daily. FP+ is not linked per magic band its linked to your MDE and tickets.

Last stay I did a 3 way split & got 3 MBs + one for my AP. They all worked interchangeably to open the room doors for each hotel & to get me into parks and for the dinning plan and charging - but I only got to make 3 FP+ per day ahead of my visit.

No, you won't get twice the FP+. FP+ is tied to your ticket. Your ticket is tied to My Disney Experience.

All your Magic band does is talk to MDE.

One set of tickets = 1 set of FP+.

Your agent is an incompetent.

This made me laugh! Yes, your agent is incorrect. I have at least 20 MB's and can still only make 3, advanced FP+ per day not 60! There are some work arounds involving creating other identities in MDE and linking other sets of tickets or making same day FP+, but you really need to know how to navigate MDE in order to do this. Unless those 2 sets of MB's are linked to different identities in MDE AND you have a separate set of tickets linked to those identities, you will only be able to make 3 advance FP+ per day.

Something occurred to me here. I wouldn't pay the money, but instead of doing a VIP tour, if you bought two sets of tickets and had two magic bands, couldn't you have 6 fastpasses + 2 later? Taken to extremes, 3 sets?

Only if they were on separate MDEs.

Yeah, you'd have to do that, but man, that would be much cheaper than VIP and almost as good. Again, not something I'm doing, but for those who are willing to pay…

I didn't read it as the TA said he'd get double FPs. Just he would get two sets of magic bands that they could use both sets the whole time. That part is correct. I took the OP to infer the two FPs by using i.e. Which is not correct.
