We will be doing a split stay. What is the best way to get from resort #1 to resort #2 & how is moving luggage handled? Thank you!

I'm not a big fan of riding sharing services, but for us, the simplest way to get from Pop Century to Wilderness Lodge was Lyft. We only did that because by luck our room at the lodge was ready for checkin at 7 or 8 am.

Otherwise, we were planning to leave our bags with bell services to transport and take a bus to one of the parks for the day.

I drive so this is only what I've read.

Disney will transfer you luggage, it could take all day so be prepared for it not to be there until later in the afternoon.

You can uber/lyft or minne van from resort to resort or you can use Disney transport to a park then your resort. If you are all ready for a park day, just leave your luggage with resort #1 to be transferred to resort #2 and bus, walk monorail (depending on where you are staying) to a park, enjoy your day until you get the text your room is ready.

I either call down and check out of resort #1 or go down to the front desk and do it. Just depends on if a call works. Then I drive to resort #2 and check in and leave my luggage with bell services and head to a park. Oh, I do on line check in the night before but even though I've done that I go ahead and go to the front desk when I get there, usually around 7 am or so. Then I head to a park. It depends on if I'm ready to leave the park when I get the room ready text as to whether I head back or not. Most times I don't head back until later in the day.

If you uber/lyft or minnie van directly to the resort, I would suggest taking your luggage with you and leaving it with bell services, that way when you are ready to go to your room you can just stop by and get it.

Usually we let Disney transfer our luggage. We take our luggage to Bell Services or call bell services from the room and they will come pick it up for us. They give you a receipt and they will transfer your bags to your new resort. It takes until afternoon for the bags to get to your new resort. We usually have to call Bell Services from our new room at the new resort and have them bring them up. Once or twice our bags were already in our new room when we got there. I think calling is the norm. We each have CPAP machines and they have always made it to us safe and no evidence of rough handling of our luggage. Cost of this service is free.

We have used the Mears Taxi service at the resort. Someone at the front door will hail one for you. They usually have a van around if you have a lot of luggage. If there isn't ask the cast member at the front door if they could get a van for you. Cost in 2018 for a van from AKL to Contemporary was around $25-30 not including tip.

The other way we transferred was with the Minnie Van service (on the Lyft app). When the cast member pulled up, they were thrown off a little thinking we were wanting a ride to the airport since we had our luggage. We explained that we were changing resorts and they put our luggage in the van and we took off. It was just my wife and myself so we only had a couple of bags. We were transferring to YC and we wanted to hit the pool pretty early in the day so that is why we used the Minnie Van. They would not be able to accommodate a lot of luggage in most of their vehicles, and you can't choose when ordering the ride. Cost can vary at time of day and distance, but I think in July 2019 the cost was around $25 not including tip.
