Split-stay questions

I'm thinking of doing a split-stay - staying one night at pop, and the rest of the week at wilderness lodge. From what I understand, I should book pop with tickets, and then wilderness lodge room-only? I'm not doing dp this trip so does it matter if I don't go to front desk at pop and check out? Any and all help is greatly appreciated-thanks!

You never have to go the desk to check out if you have a cc and email on file. They will send you a copy of your bill.

You will have to go check in at wildness even if you do online check in because your band won't activate the door (most likely) With a split stay your magic bands doesnt always switch over to unlock the room. I've learned to just go directly to the check in and and make it is activated. It will always work In the park though. I did 3 resorts in feb and my band wouldnt work to open the door each change.

Interesting. We have a split stay coming up at the Yacht Club and Poly next weekend. I received 1 set of Magic Bands for each resort. I was under the assumption that each would work for the corresponding resort they were sent for. So I'll still have to have the Poly bands activated when we check in to the Poly? Thanks.

Both sets will work for both.

IMO we either have to do a checkout process OR wait until after checkout time to expect the other bands to work for the second resort.

I'm not interested in the straight to room stuff, I like going to the front desk, so I do have a blind spot of knowledge with that.

We did a split stay in Feb., POR and WL. When we got the text that our room at WL was ready we went directly to the room. Never went to the front desk. Magic Bands worked automatically.

You don't have to buy tickets with the room reservation at all, fwiw. You could buy them from a place like undercovertourist etc if you wish to.

But if you do want to buy tickets from WDW then yes, buy it with the first reservation because it's the simplest solution.

That's interesting because I had the opposite happen. Every room change even after the 3pm check in I had to get my band fixed.

But I denied all sets for the room ressies bc I am a pass holder and already had a band. I wonder if that was the issue. The first door opened but the other 2 resorts won't until I had it linked to the room by the front desk.

Agree with what the other PP's have said. Book the tickets with the first reservation.

For our split stay last fall (All Star Sports and Pop), we did not check out at the front desk at Sports and had issues opening the room door at Pop (we got to our room at Pop in the evening, well past the 3pm check-in time).
