If I book a split stay between 2 Disney resorts, can I purchase the park hopper pass for the entire length of stay between the 2 resorts or do I have to purchase 2 passes? What I mean is if I stay at one resort for 5 days, then transfer to another resort for the remaining 5 days, can I purchase a 10 day park hopper pass on the first reservation, then just the room for the 2nd reservation? Or do I have to book 2 5 day packages? Also, how does that affect dining? Is this also split or can it been for the entire stay?

I just booked a 7 day and 3 day split stay. I purchased 10 day park hopper with the first stay (7day) and then just the hotel the last 3 days. I did the dining with the first 7 days. You can add the dining to the second stay but you have to buy at least a 1 day ticket package with that which is very pricey. Hope that helps.

We booked AKL Dec 1-5 and CSR Dec 5-9.

We wanted the dining plan for our whole stay so the CM said it had to go like this:

8 day MYW Park Hopper with dining for our AKL stay

and

1 day MYW Base ticket with dining for our CSR stay

The above poster is right. If you want the dining plan for the second portion of your stay, you have to have at least a one day MYW base ticket.

We figured the last day of our stay, since our flight is in the early evening, we would just do one park and not worry about the park hopper.

We were going to do it that way as well if we picked the POFQ for our second resort, but I really wanted to try the BC and the price did a major jump with that extra 1 day ticket and the dining plan added to the BC. With the POFQ, it was fine being it is a moderate resort. I figured it out to be almost $600 more and I know we couldn't spend that much in food in 2 1/2 days so we went this route.

It's definitely doable. You just have to do a little research and figuring how many days you want to stay where and what you can afford.

I would like to stay at the Wilderness Lodge for my entire stay, but there is only courtyard or club level rooms for the entire stay. If I go 5 days later, than there are standard rooms available. So now I'm wondering about whether it's going to cost more $$ to spend 5 days at Animal Kingdom Lodge and then the last 5 days at the Wilderness Lodge or if it's less expensive just do the entire stay at the WL at a courtyard view.

That will probably depend on whether you want the dining plan for the whole stay. If you do, my bet is the most expensive is going to be switching between the two resorts. I would check on the disney website and plug in both scenerios and see what you come up with.

If you want the dining plan for both stays you will have to pay rack rate and purchase the minimum of a 1-day base pass for every person in the room for each reservation. Are there any room-only discounts for the WL? That might make you feel better about skipping dining on your second resort.

I'm hoping for free dining being offered while I am there. Will that make a difference? Can I do a split stay if the offer free dining?

Yes, you can still do a split stay with free dining. You will still need to purchase the minimum park passes for each reservation. I don't remember the size of your family, but free dining may not be such a great bargain at the deluxe resorts. Sometimes the discounts on room-only reservations turn out to be worth more than the dining plan itself.
