Split stay questions/tips?

We just purchased at AKV with the SSR incentive points. Our next stay is a split stay - 6 days at SSR then 7 days at AKV. More than likely we will be flying and will not have a rental car. I know Disney will transfer your luggage for you, but what do you do with your valuables? We will have to be out of SSR by 11AM and can't check into AKV until 4PM. I would like to take my laptop with me, but don't want to drag it around with me that day (we'll most likely spend that day at a park). Is there somewhere I can lock it up or can I trust it to Disney to transfer it with the rest of my luggage? Or, should I just leave it home?

You don't have to wait 'til 4pm to check in. When we do what you are doing, we go over to our next resort early in the day. That way we can request certain buildings depending on the resort, or ground floor at OKW, etc., and usually are able to get what we want. If they don't have a room ready for you, they will give you your "key to the world", and a card with a phone# on it to call to see if the room is ready. Then just leave your bag with bell services, and enjoy your day. Also, let them know that you laptop is in the bag. We've left both computers and perishables (in coolers) with them and never had a problem.
Since you won't have a car, if you stay in the Congress Park, or the lower end of the Paddock at SSR, you could walk over to the Marketplace bus stop at DTD (about a 5 min. walk) at hop a bus to AKV. Just a thought...

Thanks for the tips! It would be great if we could get in early. I would love to be able to walk over to DTD! We'll definitely make that request.
