Questions for you, my expert friends:

We are likely going to do a split stay in July with a deluxe and Caribbean Beach. The deluxe nights are free nights after an issue on a previous trip. We do have a package for the CBR part of the trip (can't have one with the free nights).

My question is: say we are staying five nights at CBR. Can we do nine park ticket days and use the park ticket days when we are at the deluxe? I know the Dining Plan doesn't kick in until the day we check into CBR. But I read that the park tickets are available three days before you check in, but it was from 2012 or something and I wasn't sure if that has changed. And with Magic Bands, do I need to do anything or go straight to the parks?

And, another question: If I understand it correctly, we can use the same Magic Bands the entire trip even though they will send us two sets since it will be two different reservations?

TIA! I've done some reading/research, but some of it was muddy (or I was just tired!).

1. Can we do nine park ticket days and use the park ticket days when we are at the deluxe?

I know the Dining Plan doesn't kick in until the day we check into CBR. But

2. I read that the park tickets are available three days before you check in, but it was from 2012 or something and

3. I wasn't sure if that has changed. And

4. with Magic Bands, do I need to do anything or go straight to the parks?

5. we can use the same Magic Bands the entire trip even though they will send us two sets since it will be two different reservations?

1. Only up to THREE DAYS before the package begins.
2. Still, only up to THREE DAYS before the package begins.
3. Same.
4. You need to activate the TICKETS early. The MBs will be ready to use.
5. Either set -or- both sets can be used throughout the entire trip (and on future trips within the next couple of years.)

Can you switch your dates around and do CBR first? That way there is no question about whether the tickets will be available or not, and you move up to the nicer resort at the end of the trip.

Book a ticketless dining package at CBR. If you don't, your tickets will be tied to the package, and you will not be able to make FPs for the days prior to the package start date until you pick up your tickets. If you decide to pick up your tickets early, make sure your dining plan is working when they check you in. Ours got screwed up last year when we did early ticket pickup.

We have thought about switching them up, but I explode in a hotel room and would rather do the shorter stay first!

OK, dumb question: how do we activate the tickets early? Sorry, I probably know this answer, but I am drawing a blank! This is very helpful Robo! I had read it a few places but it was all a few years back and WDW changes so rapidly!

I love the Dis experts!

Ah, a ticketless dining package. So we do book our package with dining and hotel and then buy tickets separately?

Take your package info (Confirmation Number) and legal photo ID to any Guest Relations outside any park, or at TTC or at DTD.

And, yes, if you CAN book tickets separately, do so.
You can then use the tickets at any time.

OK, so I'll drop the tickets from my current package and re buy tickets and that should open us up. Two free nights at a deluxe is turning into a lot of work! Haha -- no complaints here!

And, since your trip is not until July, you COULD buy the tickets from a discounter like Undercover Tourist and save some money in the process.
