Split Stay Question?

Hi everyone. My family is doing a split stay with one night at All-Star Sports and then 8 nights at the Polynesian later in December. We have never done a split stay before and have a quick question regarding our bags. I have heard that Disney will transfer your luggage from one resort to the next through Bell Services. Is that true? Does anyone have any experience using this? How long does it take for the luggage to get to your next resort? It would be great if we can go from Animal Kingdom to Magic Kingdom that day without having to go check-in at the Polynesian in-between. Does anyone know if our bags will reach the resort before a dining reservation at Ohana at 4 p.m?

Yup.

Does anyone have any experience using this?

Yes, 5 times now. We like having Bell Services move our luggage so we don't loose any park time. Once we check out of resort #1 we take WDW transportation to a park for the day. Then take WDW transportation to resort #2.

How long does it take for the luggage to get to your next resort?

It usually gets to the next resort around 3-4 in the afternoon.

Maybe. The latest ours have arrived is 3:45PM. But others have reported not until 4-4:30PM.

Bell services will transfer your luggage, but typically the bags will not arrive until late afternoon. If there is anything you need on that day you should take it with you. If you want access to your luggage before the 'Ohana dinner one person in your group can take a cab to the Poly, check in and leave the luggage with bell services. This is what we have done.

Edited to add: DVC check in time is 4:00 and I noticed you will be there during the busiest week of the year so it is very possible your room will not be available until after 4:00 and/or it will take bell services longer to transfer your bags.

We do a split stay every trip. Call Bell Servicees and have them pick up your luggage from your room. Then go to your desired park for the day. Mid afternoon, take Disney transportation to the new resort. We usually ask at Bell Services at the new resort on our way in if our luggage has arrived. If they say no, we keep calling about every 30 minutes. I believe delivering transferred luggage is a lesser priority than Magical Express luggage. And, you must be in the room to receive your luggage. They won't deliver it while you are out of the room. Normally, we get our luggage between 3:30 and 5:30pm.

On our Nov trip we had MVMCP tickets for the day we moved from Boardwalk to Contemporary. Since it was important for us to get our luggage before 4 pm, we took a cab to Contemporary that morning with all our stuff and left it directly with Bell Services at our new hotel. We received our room notification about 2:30pm including
our room number (on line check in). We were in our room with our luggage by 3pm.

Note: In my opinion, when using Bell Services to move luggage for a split stay, you should tip $1-$2 per bag on BOTH ends.
