Split stay question

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding split stays. We are currently planning on doing a 10 night stay next Oct 2017 at Beach Club. Stayed there last trip and loved it.
That being said, the Floridian is also calling my name. Have never stayed there, and it really appeals to me. We would not want to stay the entire time at GF, however, as Epcot is our favorite and we spend quite a bit of time there.

My question is in regards to making my dining & fast pass resv. If I do a split stay, do I lose my +10 advantage for fast pass? Would I only be able to do the 1st resort stay at 60 days, and then have to wait for the 60 days of the 2nd resort ( if that makes sense) ?
How does this affect dining resv ? I always go for my harder to get resv towards the end of my 10 days and never have had a problem.

If I'm going to lose my +10 I might have to rethink my split stay dream.

Thanks for any info!!

My understanding is you are good on the dining as long as both reservations are linked to your account. Fastpasses, no you have to do as the windows open up if I remember correctly. We had no problem last trip and we had 3 reservations.
In planning what resort when keep in mind different days of the week are different prices...so GF on the weekend would be much more expensive than weekday

Good to know !

Not sure if I'm willing to give up my +10 during food & wine, and possibly some new attractions open by then
Have to think about this.

Thanks !!

You dont lose plus 10 on dining and fastpass you dont really lose anything either..just a little extra work.
...price change at all disney resorts on different days of the week. GF being most expensive will be highest price on weekend

Actually we have done a split stay the last few trips and could not do all of our ADRs. At 180 days of the first resort we could book for the first part of our trip including moving day and then had to wait until the 180 days of the second resort for the rest. The FPs you can do all of them at 60 days.

Cynbeth is correct. It used to be possible to book all your dining reservations at one time, but that changed last year and now you have to make dining reservations at 180 days before the start of each resort reservation, even if the total number of nights for the combined resorts is less than ten.

We just booked all our stuff recently and had to do two days of the 180 days from the beginning of each reservation.. That said, we got everything we wanted, if not the first time we kept watching and made it happen. This will be our 4th split stay and I love it!
The benefits far outweigh the negatives! It is like a game, trying to plan a trip with the LEAST amount of bus rides possible :)
Enjoy!

YES I can chime in that for sure this just changed last year. (was able to do all days of split LAST YEAR) It happened to us today our 180 day point of ressie one. We ARE really unhappy. Guest service said it is due to people booking a reservation and then cancelling after dining made..and they said they will eventually fix this..i.e. if at some point if you cancel the reservation tied to your dining it will cancel them too. So there is no plus 10 from your first reservation. We have 3 so we will have to get up at 4 am 3 times to get it all done and we are penalized. If we had one reservation for the trip it would all be done now. Guest service agreed that this is unfair. The more that write guest relations to let them know the quicker this will resolve. Disney does listen to guests in my experience. There used to be just a few of us disney nuts who would even think to have a split stay. Now with the advent of social media and more planning sites more and more are lookiing at the advantages. Like I told the CM would disney rather $$ wise I stay 10 days at a value or 2 then 8 at a deluxe.

I hope they don't cancel ADRs tied to cancelled resort reservations before they allow people to do 180+10 for more than one leg a split stay (instead of one resort at a time). Because, right now, one way to get around them only allowing you make ADRs one resort at a time for a split stay is to book a parallel dummy reservation that covers your entire trip, make your ADRs off of that reservation, and then cancel it (I don't consider this to be unethical because you wouldn't have to do it in the first place if Disney would let you book for more than one resort at a time).

It would be nice if Disney recognized split stays as one reservation for the purposes of such things as making ADRs, using dining plans, and the ticket requirement for free dining promotions.

The booking of dummy reservations is exactly what they want to stop so at some point they will and any cancelled reservations will lose dining with them. Yes they need to fix this. I took the time to call and complain in hopes of adding to the solution with feedback. I found it interesting that CM agreed that the current set up is not fair.

We have a split stay coming up and I put all of our park tickets on our first resort with a package and then did room only for the second resort. I was able to book all the FP for all days of the trip without issue.

Yes you can do that with fast passes ...not dining at 180 day point...unless you are lucky enough to hit a glitch or they change this "new" system.

Depends how you book. My friends booked 10 days at POR and at 180 they made all of their ADRs. Then a couple months later they decided to split their stay - they kept the first 5 at POR and then made a new reservation at AKL for the last 5. Their ADRs were not affected.

True, since ADRs aren't cancelled when a room is cancelled.

Well again this is what they want to avoid. People making a "fake" reservation then cancelling it and keeping the ressies. They stated they plan to put something in place to make that loop hole close. I was told by guest service that they want to have the dining cancel when a reservation does. The trick is probably not penalizing those that made an honest change in plans, i.e. not trying to clog up reservation system in order for a work around, just changing their minds. The wheels of progress are slow ..maybe someday.

It wasn't "fake", their plans changed. They're still in the park for the original 10 days, they just upgraded to a different resort for the back end of their trip. What's "fake" about that?

Nothing I did not say that read the bottom where I discuss people making honest changes

After re-reading the entire thread....IMO your post that I quoted, having come right after mine about my friends' experience, still gives me the impression that what they did was included in your dislike for fake reservations. And for what it's worth, we have our first split stay coming up in October and through all of the conversations I've had on the phone getting the plans finalized, I did not encounter any CMs that had such strong opinions about split stays and supposed loopholes.
