Split Stay Question

My fiance and I are staying at the Grand Floridian for the first 7 nights of our Disneymoon. We recently decided to add on an extra night, but will be staying at Carribean Beach as another night at GF was not in our budget. My question is: does Disney provide transportation when doing split stays? I've heard something about a taxi that takes you from one resort to the other when doing split stays, but I'm not too familiar with that. If they do provide some sort of transportation, do we have to pay for it? Or does Disney provide it without a fee?

They do not provide direct transport for Split stay purposes. You could move your luggage yourself via taxi and leave it with bell services at the new resort then head to the parks.

We typically express checkout early, take care of the luggage transfer, go to "rope drop" at the park closest to our new resort and head over to the new resort 1:30 ish to avoid check in crowds. (this is how we get to the new resort .... from the old resort to a park and then standard disney transportation from the park to the new resort) If the room is not ready, we'll just explore the new resort ... (they will text you the room # when it's ready).

Note: On resort switching days, we usually take a small backpack with our important items in it with us to the park just in case there is a lugguge mishap ... so far we haven't had any issues with the luggage not showing up but better safe than sorry.

First of all, congratulations! We honeymooned at WDW as well this past October and absolutely loved it!

Secondly, Disney does not provide individual taxi service from resort to resort. We did a split stay as well on one of our trips there, staying at Pop Century for a night beforetranferring to the Wilderness Lodge. We had bell services pick up our luggage and have it transferred to our next resort while we spent the morning in the parks. We went back the Wilderness Lodge for lunch and checked in. Our room wasn't ready, so we relaxed for a while next to the pool until our room was ready. We actually took the bus from Pop to the MK and then the boat from the MK to the WL. I would suggest you do the same by having your bags transferred while you enjy the day in the parks before you check in.

Another tip, start your Disneymoon at CBR before you go to GF. Never go from a deluxe to a moderate! Have a great time!

Disney will transfer your bags for you, you won't have to worry about anything. The only thing you have to worry about is that Bell Services do their transfers between 1pm and 4pm, so just make sure you have them pick up your luggage before then. And when Bell Services (call them and they will come to your room and pick them up) pick up your luggage, they will give you a transfer slip to keep until you get to your new resort. It is so easy peasy. We did this for the first time this past January and will be doing it again for our trip later this year. Congratulations on your wedding and Disneymoon, I know you will have a Magical time .

Can anyone comment if they were able to do the split stay luggage transfer between Disney resorts to or from the Swan/Dolphin resorts? Thanks!

We have done this many times. Our bags were transferred no issue at all. Once Bell services used the golf cart and delivered us and our luggage from Saratoga Springs to Old Key West. I loved the ride over. They weren't busy at 7:30 in the morning .....yet
