Split Stay Question

We have a room only reservation for 8 nights at the Poly in August which I am thinking of adding on dining. We will be staying at Yacht Club for 3 nights before our Poly reservations and I do not want to have the dining plan on those days. I would like to buy 9 day park tickets and I know I need to have this on the Poly reservation to get the dining but my question is can I get my park tickets early so that we can use them during our stay at the Yacht Club? I don't want buy at 2 day ticket at the Yacht Club and then another 7 day ticket at the Poly since most of the money is on the beginning days of the tickets. If the ressies were the other way around we would not have this problem but the timing does not work.

You won't be able to do this unless you have a DVC reservation or annual pass.

You can't add DDP to a room only reservation. Unless you have an annual pass, you must convert that reservation to a room/tickets/dining package, and you MUST buy tickets in conjunction with the reservation where you wish to use the dining plan. Even if you bought tickets with your first stay at the Yacht Club, you'd have to buy them again when you switched to the Polynesian. Of course, you could buy 9 day tickets at the Yacht Club and then a one-day ticket at the Polynesian, but if you already have tickets you probably won't want to lay out cash for another one-day ticket, unless you can hang onto that ticket and use it for admission or an upgrade on a future trip.

You must purchase some sort of ticket in conjunction with your checkin at the Polynesian in order to get the dining plan with that stay.

You'd have to do the math, but with a stay that length it might be workable to buy one adult annual pass and use it to book the Polynesian stay as a room/dining package, no tickets. I would make sure there is availability on the room/dining AP package at the Polynesian for your dates first. You can book the package without having the annual pass, but you'd need to present one at checkin.

My other suggestion is to buy length of stay tickets either at the Yacht Club or before you get there, and put a one-day ticket on the Polynesian reservation. One day tickets never expire and can be used to upgrade or pay for new tickets in the future.

I quess my post was a little confusing. Right now I have a 40% off room only ressie at the Poly. I know I can add dining and must buy tickets. My question is can those tickets be used early (even if I have to go to the Poly to pick them up) for our stay at the Yacht Club. If not I will just forgo park tickets for the Yacht Club and we will use an old water park ticket one day and just hang by the resort or DTD the other day before our Poly ressises start.

No, you don't get the tickets for the Polynesian stay until you check into the Polynesian.

You'd be better off not doing parks during your Yacht Club stay.

Thanks, that's what my thinking was. Can you buy the dining plan for your entire party even if only one person in the room has an annual pass? Something doesn't seem right with this.

Yes, you can. Only one adult AP at checkin is required.

Lets see you need the tickets from the Poly stay say 3-4 days early so you could use them for the earlier stay a the Yacht Club. Now if you got them from an outside vender you would have the tickets in hand to start at any time and if you only need 1 AP to get the DDP for the Poly stay. Could you cancel the tickets from Disney and go to like AAA or Maple Leaf and buy your tickets then you would have them in hand before you go on the trip?:cool1: :hippie:

Hello from Germany (sorry for the bad english).

I'm wondering why it's written here that this isn't possible, because we did this two years ago. The only diference: We had a split stay at the same resort. But I can't imagine that this should make a difference?

Because of a changing of seasons we had a two day room-only-reservation and a second reservation with DDP and tickets. And it's been possible to get the tickets from the second reservation the first day we came in.

What's true: It hasn't been well known that this is possible. The CM at the reception didn't know hot to do this. So she told us to do it at the ticket both at any of the parks. And there it's been no problem. We also got four Fastpasses (good for every FP ride) because we had troubles getting our tickets.

BTW: I've also been told that it's not possible, but some Disney experts at another board told me, that it is possible, it's just not well known by many.

So if you want to do this, check out again. If it's impossible, it must have been changed in the last two years.

Greetings, Hektor.
