HI all, long time lurker... but i hope you all can help me with this..

my family and i are going to wdw from nov 30-dec 6th and staying in the contempory mk view. We are thinking of adding 3 more days on by booking in an epcot deluxe. My question is if i make my myw+dining a 10 day ticket will i be able to make a room only reservation at the epcot deluxe, with out adding on the dining. I know the you must have dining for all days that you are staying on property but i wasn't sure if spliting the stay ( new reservation) would be included.

thanks

Usually, you would have to have each stay self contained. You would probably have to have a separate MYW ticket and dp for the Epcot stay. This was my understanding when we looked into it and was a reason we opted for Annual Passes to have the flexibility to do split stays.

Your MYW park tickets are good for the second "leg" of your stay - they will even transfer the park tickets to your new room cards once you check in to the second hotel.

The DDP ends, however, on the last night of your first stay - it can only be purchased for the length of stay on your first reservation.

Splitting your stay is technically 2 separate reservations, with the first one being a package and the 2nd one being room only (as you stated above). So for the 3 days added on at a different resort you would have to purchase another day's park ticket (1 day minimum for everyone in your party) in order to get the dining plan for those 3 days, as the dining plan would not carry over to the new resort. As a pp stated, your park tickets are good throughout your stay (expiring 14 days after the first use unless the no expiration option is purchased), it's the dining that doesn't continue to the new resort unless you turn that portion into a package as well.

Yes, you can book a package with tickets and dining for the first reservation and then do a room-only for the second reservation (and pay for dining out-of-pocket those three days). In fact, I think it's the best way to do it. The split stay means having two wholly separate reservations, and you do not have to have the same kind of reservation at each resort.

If you make the second portion of your stay a package, you'll have to buy at least another one-day ticket for everyone in the party, and I don't think the dining savings justify that extra expense. Just keep in mind that your dining credits will expire on the last day of the first reservation, so make sure to use them up.

In terms of the ticket, you can always buy the length of stay for the first package and upgrade to a 10-day ticket once you get to WDW. Adding a few days is so inexpensive once you hit the 7-day pass! As a pp mentioned, they can move the remaining days onto a new card when you switch hotels.

If you are doing room only for the second half of the stay yes you could get a 10 day ticket and they will transfer the remaining days to the second KTTW card. If you were doing a package then you would need at least a one day ticket on the second reservation.

thank you for all the feedback. we booked the split stay and are going to be staying at the yacht club! can't wait!!!!!!

thanks again
