Since I'm having problems with the search feature, I guess I'll ask. We have a split stay this time around and I want to be sure I've got this correct. All I need to do is let the bell captain know the night before that we will be moving to a different hotel in the morning and they will take care of getting our bags over to the new resort the next day??? I'm freakin' out about this all of a sudden. Thanks!

I always call the morning I switch. I've never waited more than 5 minutes for bell services to come... I then head for a park and go to the new hotel at around noon. My luggage isn't there yet, usually so I have my kids wear their bathing suits that morning

When we have split the stay, we too have worn our bathing suites, or packed them in a backpack for the afternoon. If your new room is not ready when you arrive, they will give you a card with a number to call to let you know when it is ready.

Wait - I want to make sure I have this right (have a split stay next visit). I don't have to lug my luggage (ooh, now I know the origin of "luggage"; never noticed that before) with me when I check out? I can leave it in my room all nicely packed and it will "magically" appear in my next room when we get back from the park? Oooh, I'm lovin' this :yay:

That's good to know, but they do transfer your luggage for you, right??

You have to wait for bell services to pick it up..Like I said they are very quick..When you get to your new resort, call down to bell services at the new resort and they will bring it to you..Mine is usually ready by 3 PM,sometimes as early as noon

As long as your moving from one Disney resort to another Disney resort (ie. from Coronado Springs to Wilderness Lodge) then Disney will move your luggage for you. You generally need to call bell services the morning your checking out of the 1st resort, let them know your moving to another resort and then wait for bell services to arrive (maybe up to a 10 to 15 minute wait at best). When bell services arrive at your room just remind them what resort your moving to and you won't see your luggage until later in the day. You'll have to inquire when checking in at the next resort if your luggage has been moved there yet (usually it has by the time you check in at 3 or 4 ish) and they will then bring it to your room for you. Granted you do pay out more in tips this way but it is certainly better than dragging around your luggage. It has always been relatively smooth for me in the past and I wouldn't hesitate to tell you to use the service.

This isn't directly on point, but I feel like I have to say this to everyone who splits their stay: Use your head! We did a YC/CR split. I wanted to make sure that I didn't lose a second of park time over the split stay, so we were all packed the night before, checked out bright and early and drove from the YC to the CR. We were prepared to just leave our bags there and go the MK if our room wasn't ready.

The problem with my well thought out plan was that it was POURING rain....we actually drove past the CR because we couldn't see it, it was raining so hard.

CR did have a room ready - not filling any of our room requests, but we took it because we didn't want to be left in a monsoon with no room.

The moral of the story is that if it's pouring, take your time checking out of the first resort!

Thanks!! I can just see us dragging our luggage onto a Disney bus headed to Epcot!! :rotfl2:

Okay, no more panic attacks!!

Thanks everyone for the great information! I forgot all about the split stay thing and what was going to happen with your luggage. We are staying 2 nights AKL and then moving over to the Poly for 8 days and I never even thought about seeing if they can be moved through the hotels. We just usually throw everything in the car and head off to the next place. I do worry a little about my medical equipment..a CPAP getting there in one piece. Maybe I should just keep it in the car? but then I worry about the car being stolen! I know, silly! thanks again for the info!. Helen

Thanks to everyone for such great knowledge and helpfulness! I knew my luggage would be transferred to my new room, but was thinking I had to carry it to the front desk myself. I was also worried about how to tip someone handling my luggage in my new resort if I wasn't there. Glad to know that 1) I don't carry it out of resort one and 2) I know exactly who to tip!
