Has anyone had experience with doing their arrival night at 1 resort and the rest at another?

Im thinking of doing this to save alittle money and to get a quick taste of another resort.

Is 1 night ok? How has your expirience been?

We are staying at AKV for the majority of our trip. I didn't want to pay for a additional full day of room for the first night when we wouldn't be arriving until around 7-8 at night. We booked two rooms at ASMo for the arrival night and then will get up early the next morning and go to AKV. It did save us some money.

We are doing this for our upcoming August trip. We are staying one night at AS Sports then moving over to the BC for a week. We got a much cheaper flight on the day before that made it possible to add that night and still save $$$. We just wont unpack and take an early cab over to BC the next morning, drop off stuff, check in, then hit the Parks.

It's a great idea to save some money and a way to try a different resort. A lot of people do this if they are getting in later in the evening the night before (like the pp) and don't want to spend the extra money on a more expensive resort just to sleep.

That's how we tried Pop. We already had a stay booked for YC, but these boards had gotten me curious about Pop so we flew in a day early and spent the night there. We were at YC by 7:00 a.m. the next day to check in and hit the parks.

We might do this in September... We were going to drive halfway the day before we arrive but who knows? If the kids sleep and are behaving, we might drive all the way and stay at one if the values before we switch over.

It's so easy to do. My sister and I did this in December - we got in late Thursday night and stayed at POP for one night. That morning we were up, gave our bags to the bellhop to be transferred and then headed out to the parks. We went to SSR around 1 and our bags hadn't arrived yet but we just ate lunch and hung out. One thing I would recommend is that if you want your bags at your actual resort then I would suggest taking a cab and leaving them with the bellhop at your second resort if your room isn't ready yet.

We did it with our last trip, we originally were due to arrive the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but were able to add a day and arrive on Saturday instead... Due to the holiday weekend our resort was booked out so we got a room at old key west for the night before checking into BLT. We decided to do it again for our upcoming trip, we will stay at the beach club villas our first night and then move on to BLT the following day. We are DVC owners so it gives us a taste of other resorts and allows us to know what we like for future stays.
