Split stay - need help with logistics!

I am thinking of splitting my stay between a value resort and a deluxe one. I currently have:

- 9 days of WDW tickets, 14 day expiration, no hopper, no plus
- dining pkg

If I try to price out two individual reservations, it penalizes me on the park tickets, cause now I'm buying one 5 day and one 4 day tickets. How can I get around this? I want to pay for 9 day tickets! I'm staying onsite the whole time, so I don't see why I should be penalized. And I really want to keep the dining pkg, so if I try to do the no tickets on the 4 day stay and do the 9 day tickets on the 5 days stay, then it won't let me get dining for the 4 days. HELP!!!

Well, given how the system is setup, you will be penalized for a split stay, no matter how you do it. However, the length of tickets does not have to match your stay, but you must purchase two tickets to get the dining package. So you could buy a 8 day ticket with your first resort and a 1 day ticket with your second resort. Or if you know you will be coming back, you can purchase a 9 day ticket with your first resort and a 1 day ticket with the second and save the 1 day ticket for your next trip (upgrading it at that time to what you need). The 8/1 split will still penalize you $60, but better than the $184 penalty on a 4/5 split.

Bottom line - split stays and packages - not a good deal.

thanks for your response. If I go with the 8/1 split, yet do 4 days at each hotel, can they move my leftover tickets to my new hotel keys?

Thanks again.

I don't know, but probably not. You would have to carry both room keys for the second part of your visit, one to put in the turnstiles to get in and in the FastPass machines and one for dining and to get in your room. But for $120 I would suffer through it. :)

I would call about that. I know they can do it when it doesn't involve the dining plan and when you don't book a package. I've never used the dining plan so I don't know all the details but I have done stays with 2 days at one resort and then remaining days at another resort and upon check in at the second resort they just added the tickets to my new room key.

I purchased room ressies and tickets seperate though which is why I am unsure.

We did a POR and CSR split stay in July. Our tickets were on our POR room keys and we asked at CSR if they could transfer them to our CSR room keys. We were told no, and continued to keep both sets of keys: one for our room and one for the parks. It wasn't a big deal.

Thanks everyone. I calculated even doing the 8/1 split, I end up losing $170 (we are 2 adults and 1 child) compared to sticking to the 9 days tickets. I don't think it's worth it. Oh well, I just thought I'd try out a deluxe for a few days, but it's probably a lot cheaper to go to a moderate and stay there our entire stay than to split our stay into value and deluxe. For now, I'll stick with the ASMo I think. Since it's our first stay onsite, it'll be all new to us anyways.

There's still 7 more months to wait, I hope I don't have RAD the whole time...

Thanks again!
