Split Stay- is it difficult?

We just returned home yesterday from a 10 day split stay, 3 nights POFQ and 7 nights WL, on the day we moved to WL from FQ we brought our bags to Bell Services then spent the day at MK knowing we could then take the boat to WL at the end of the day and check into our room there. Although everything went smoothly my wife and I agreed NEVER AGAIN!!! While we were there we booked a FD Bounceback for next summer and the entire 10 day trip will be at the BWI. To each his own, but we rather just settle into 1 place for our entire stay.

Really? What was so bad about it? Any other details you could provide appreciated.

One of the reasons is we'd really rather settle in for our trip instead of moving at some point during it.

The other reason is in our 10 day trip we had 2 days where we could only use our room for a third of each day. Check in day we were only able to use our POFQ room from 4:00 PM on, then again on moving day we had no use of our WL room until 3:00 PM. To us it's not worth it.

I am kinda "dreading" our moving day. We are not RD to close kind of people. We like midday breaks to chill out. Since we are moving to DVC this time I know I won't get my room before 4 pm (BWV during F&W). We will RD DHS and then go over to Epcot for a lunch ADR and hopefully get some FP+ for a few rides but I would much rather go back to our room to decompress or hit the pool.

And I pack tons of toiletries so it's not as easy as packing for two different stays. I still have a good amount of stuff to pack and unpack at each resort. IMO clothes are the easiest to pack and unpack. I hate packing wet shampoo and soap and my loofa and soap, etc.

We've made a multi-split-stay this year (4 resorts), and while bell services really helped us, it is true that it requires some planning.

I would suggest using separate packing cubes for each of your stay, so as to ease the unpacking/re-packing. For the resorts where we planned using the pool before our room could be ready, we had a separate day bag, that we took with us and gave to bell services when we arrived (so that we could claim it back later, should our room not be ready yet).

We might possibly do some split stays in the future, though not with that many resorts, although it was nice trying options that we weren't sure we'd like (some we did, some we didn't).

The actual moving doesn't bother me, as we never go back to the resort during the day. I just don't like how they divide up the trip. It's a mental thing, I don't want to move to the second hotel because it means the trip is half over.

I'm fine with one night at the beginning or end for transportation issues. Like last year we found much cheaper flights on Friday night, but our package reservation at CSR started on Saturday, so we booked one night at ASMo for Friday night and still came out ahead on the flight costs.

Agree 100% that moving halfway isn't fun. We always make sure the last segment of our split stay is always much longer than all our other nights combined.

We just did a 5 night/5 night split and I agree. Next time I am thinking of 2-4 nights and then the remainder at resort 2. Plus we were at the BC the first 5 nights and didn’t see the MK until the day we moved, well minus Chef Mickeys our first night but didn’t set foot in the MK because I didn’t want to take the bus back! Next time I will plan on just DHS and Epcot at the BC and I can take the bus to AK from the Poly.

I have always stayed at POR but our last trip I did a split stay due to budget. Our Canadian dollar isn’t too great so when I convert, the room is more than I would like to spent. We did a 5 night Pop followed by 5 nights at POR. By the time we flew from The west coast, we didn’t arrive at Pop until almost 10pm. I planned out two trips to Universal while staying at Pop so it seemed more reasonable to stay at a value for those nights. I did love getting back to my fav POR though! :)
