We are coming 12/3 to 12/8 adult only trip. I wanted to add on 12/2 but of course no rooms available at SS were we are staying. I thought about 1 night at Boulder ridge and then moving to SS. We have never done a split stay before. How inconvenient is it to have to move after 1 night?

For an adults only trip it shouldn't be an issue. Just live out of your suitcase the 1st night. Then you can have Disney move your bags or even easier is to use UBER or LYFT and just take your bags with you to SSR. If your room is not ready, Bell Services will hold your bags so you can go to the Parks.

Live out of your suitcase the first day, then the next morning ask Bell Services to transfer your bags to the next resort. Go to the parks for the day, and when you check into your new resort later that day (assuming it's several hours later), your bags should be waiting there.

The transferred bags should be available at the new resort very late afternoon. You do have to be in your room and call for them to be delivered. They won’t automatically show up in your room the way they do when arriving by Magical Express.

Yes, I should have clarified "waiting for you at the resort". You can either stop at Bell Services & pick them up there, or call Bell Services from your room.

I am the queen of adding on a day and my husband hates that I do it every time! LOL! When I add a day at the beginning, we book the deluxe dining plan for that one night. It is a great value. You get 3 TS credits, 2 snacks, and 1 refillable mug that will work for your entire trip (along with booze at evety meal and the deluxe plan includes an appetizer) for about $118.00. The TS credits are good until midnight of check out day, so you get two days to use them. Bell services moves our luggage for us. Just remember to tip when they come to your room to pick up AND when the new resort comes to drop off.

Doing a split stay every trip. Actually done 3 resorts a few times. Seemless.

Be cautious of room charges. Sometimes they dont get calculated till week later on split stays. Disney does not do a good job with that aspect.

You can leave with a 0 balance and then find out later they missed something from your first day and get charged. PITA.

Probably a fluke but I did a split stay last week. Bell services came to our room and picked up our 6 bags at POR. We
headed to Magic Kingdom and stayed to watch fireworks. We received our room assignment at Pop via text message. Went straight there to find all our bags in our room waiting for us. They made it so easy.

Should be seamless but not always especially when it comes to the luggage transfer. We've had a few split stays and on more than one occasion our luggage didn't appear at the new resort until very late! I would recommend taking your own luggage to the new resort and have Bell Services hold it if the new room is not ready upon check-in.

Not an issue at all. We have done split stays with our 3 kids. It is just a matter of being organized with your packing so that you don't have to dig through all your luggage. When you are ready to leave your room you can either bring luggage to bell services or call for them to pick it up. They tag all your bags and they should be at your new resort in about 4 hours. Just keep any vital essentials with you because it does happen at times that bags go MIA for a bit. I haven't had it happen. Just plan to head off to the park or Disney springs and then you can arrive at your new resort when you have your room ready or just later in the day.
