Split Stay--How Do I Get to the Second Hotel?

I'm sorry, I tried to search for this topic but the search engine went for over ten minutes and still said it was in progress so I gave up.

Due to rotten airline flight times, I would like to come in a day ahead of time so I don't waste a day in travel. For just the first night I'd like to stay at Pop to save money, and then head to WL for ten days. How would I get my family and my luggage to WL from Pop?

And can I take ME from the airport to Pop, but then be picked up again by ME from WL to go back to the airport? In other words, can you be dropped at one hotel and picked up at the other?

Thanks so much!

Hi there!

We do split-stays for every trip and WDW makes it so easy!

ME: They will give you luggage tags for both resorts you are staying at for your trips to & from the airport.

For moving resorts, all you do is call bell services the night before you move & let them know when & where you will be transferring. They will come & move the stuff for you. Your luggage will be waiting for you in your room of your new resort within a few hours. You can go and enjoy your day while they move the stuff for you. Easy as that!

Another added perk you might be interested in is, if you are using a major airline, you can actually check your luggage at the WL before you head home to the airport. They will take your luggage at the lobby and bring it to the airport for you.

During our last trip, I think I only lifted my luggage twice: bringing it into the Boston airport when we left for WDW & bringing it home from luggage claim when we returned home!

I have not yet done the split stay, but will in Aug (WL/BC) and have gotten alot of info here.

You can take disney transportation to the nearest park, then transfer to the 2nd hotel either right away or stay in the park and checkin later or just take a cab in the morning. If you opt for the bus you cannot take your luggage but disney will transfer it for you. You will need to be prepared to be w/o it for awhile though. If you take a cab, you can of course, take it yourself and they will hold it until your room is ready. Alot of people do this and most say it works well. I hope it will go smoothly!!:)

Yes, we had no problem booking ME to and from 2 different places. They are pretty used to people doing this. Just make sure you update you hotel reservation for the change. Good luck and have a great trip!!!

Hmmm....I just had a friend call Pop for me (I don't have free long distance) and they said they WON'T transfer any luggage and that I'd need a taxi. Has anyone gone from Pop to another hotel and had Pop transfer the luggage?

I would need to go right to WL the next morning, in person, to check in so that I would be issued my park tickets. With Pop it would just be a room only reservation. Or can Pop somehow check me into WL and issue tickets and dining plan?

Thanks!

Oh, also, if I did use a taxi, does Pop summon it for me and how much would it cost, including tip? Thanks so much!

We thought about using bus services but figured it would be too much off a hassle. I just called Mears yesterday to inquire about cab service. Mears, who supposedly operates a few taxi services at WDW, gave me a quote of $8 from the All Stars to AKV. This of course will vary to where you are going. Since you're going to WL from Pop, I think that is quite a bit further than AS to AKV. Anyway, they stated that I could call them the night before or early the morning of departure, that they operate 24 hours a day. The number they told me to call back on is 407-422-2222 (am I allowed to post this?)

I think the person on the phone at POP gave inaccurate information. We've done the split stay before and Disney always transferred our luggage. Unless this long-standing service was recently eliminated, it should be as easy as previously described.

Disney will transfer your luggage. We just returned from a split stay. We were at AKV for our first 3 nights then transferred over to OKW. We wanted our luggage in our room right away so we opted to take a cab. The cost from AKL to OKW was $20 plus a tip. There are cabs waiting outside each resort entrance or you can call for one if there aren't any waiting. We felt this was the easiest route for us. I had my luggage and didn't have to worry when everything would arrive. Oh, and btw, I would not do a split stay again. Too much of a hassle for us.:sad2:

We moved from ASMU to SSR last year. I just used a taxi. I didn't want to be bothered with having the resort move my luggage and transferring on buses. It cost $15.00. I gave the driver a $20 and I felt it was worth it. I was at my new resort in 15 minutes. There were taxis waiting right outside the resort. If there isn't one there the resort will call one for you.

We went from AS to AKL. disney transferred our luggage for us no problem. The night before, we called bell services to let them know. We played all day at the parks, then went to check in at AKL. Our luggage was at their bell services desk waiting. No hassle! Can't imagine AS doing it and not POP. I'd have your friend call back and ask someone else. :)
