For all of those who have done a split stay...When transferring to your second resort do you go over there right away and do early check in or do you go to the park and come back later on in the afternoon to check in? Does it make a difference either way? :confused3

Hi ,

I have just got back to the uk after our vacation to Wdw.

When we had finished the disney cruise our transfers got us to resort (Boardwalk) by 9:30am. We were able to check in straight away and go to room. I don't know whether this is the norm or because I hurt my back on the cruise. Anyway it was a great relief to get the room early.

If they don't give you the room straight away they keep your bags so you can enjoy the parks.

Hope this helps !

I have been wondering this too. We are transferring to SSR from POP and want to go to the parks in the am. I have been worried that we will loose time at the parks because we have to go check in at SSR. If we have bell services take our luggage for us to SSR, can we go to the parks and check in later in the day? If we do that do you think we would be less likely to get our requested DTD view? Probably huh? Anyone out there who's done this (resort transfer) that can tell me if it really is the hassle it sounds like it's gonna be?

You can check in later in the day with no problem. We usually check in early, but we stay in a resort near the park we are going to.The bell service will keep your bags until you call for them.WE have never had a hassle doing this. Last Apr. we went from AKL to the POLY to the BWV and it went smoothly.

bumping....

Do you check in to your second resort before going to the park for the day or check in mid afternoon?

we are doing our first split-stay and are planning to check in later in the day... we're going to pack and leave our bags in our room (someone correct me if this is wrong!) and head to the Animal Kingdom for the day... the kids don't know we're resort hopping, so after a full day in the park we're going to suggest a peek into the AKL (a resort ds has been drooling over for months!)... imagine their surprise when we show them our ROOM!

Ok we did a split stay last fall and have one this fall as well (both times CBR to AKL). Here is what we did:

1. We were pretty much packed up the night before the move and in the morning we called CBR luggage people (lol I can't think of the proper term at the moment (just pushed the button that looks like a suitcase on the phone speed dial)).

2. At Deluxe and Moderate resorts you have to wait for bell services (ahh I remembered!) to come and tag your luggage, but at value resosrt you just leave the luggage in your room. Bell services came and ticketed all of our bags and told us the baggage would be transferred to AKL between 1pm-3pm and to just call bell services once we are in our room to have it delivered (not you must be in your room to recieve your luggage).

3. We leave get on a bus to AK and at AK transfer to AKL bus and check in at AKL at 10:00am or so. Our room is ready we check it out and leave some small things there and go back out and head to AK.

4. Come back to resort around 4:30ish call have luggage delivered within 10 minutes. It is that simple.

Here are some extra notes:

1. gigi1313: where are you staying for the first part of your trip? You may need one parent to take the kids out and distract them while the other parent arranges the transfer.

2. chipmunkfan I don't think it really matters which way you do it. I like to check in as early as possible myself because I know that lines can be longer closer to/around the 3pm/4pm official check in time.

We just did a split stay with CSR and POFR.
We left our room at CSR around 10 a.m. walked our luggage to bell service to transfer our luggage to POFQ. Then we hopped on the 1st bus that came to the CSR which was the EPCOT bus. When we got off at EPCOT we found the stop for POFQ, waited 10 minutes for a bus then we were off to the FQ.
This saved us going all the way DT to transfer.
We arrived at FQ to check in. Our room was not ready so they gave us our room keys and a card with a number to call to check on the status of our room and to get our room # when the room is ready. We were then off to the parks all within an hour.

we're going from POFQ to AKL... i guess it's not a big deal to hang in the room... i just don't want to give it away! LOL! thanks for the detailed account...makes a nice clear picture in my rather fuzzy head! LOL!

I too am concerned about transferring my luggage...I have this fear that my luggage will lost and I'll be stuck with nothing! I know I am probobly having an overactive imagination, but I can't help it :bitelip: Its getting closer and I always get anxious as a WDW vacation peeps around the corner...

We will be transferring from POFQ to BWI, plan to have our luggage tagged, get on the bus and go the park stay there for the day and then check in during the evening when were done ( I think we will be at MGM that night) If I remember correctly, we can just take the boat from MGM to Boardwalk.

Well if you have a rental car do what we are going to do. We are staying 1 night at POP. We are not going to a park that day because we will not have any tickets. We will have an over night bag and then early the next day and check in at POR. That is when we will get our tickets. If our room is ready, then we will just leave them in the room. We have ADR for Donalds at 8 and then AK that day...
